Versatile Japanese Adzuki Red-bean Paste
This Japanese red bean (adzuki) paste is both tasty and authentic. Itโs very easy to use, made from locally grown Japanese adzuki beans, sea salt, and beet sugar, with no additives. Since the adzuki skin is rich in polyphenols, I usually buy the Tsubuan variety, which includes the skin. This time, however, I chose the Koshian, the smooth paste without skin, because I wanted to try making a dessert with a silky texture. Adzuki pairs wonderfully with matcha. I enjoy it on ice cream, with tart strawberries, or spread on buttered toast.

Itโs a decent option if you are looking for an additive-free
The Yamasan Kyoto Uji Red Bean Paste offers a truly authentic, traditional flavor, but I found it to be a little pricey for the overall quality. While the texture is perfectly grainy and the ingredients are clearly high-grade, there is a slight, unexpected bitterness in the aftertaste that might not appeal to everyone. Itโs a decent option if you are looking for an additive-free, vegan anko for mochi or toast, but given the premium price tag, I expected a smoother sweetness. It's not too bad, but there are definitely better values available.

Good quality product
The Japanese product is expensive compared to cheap Chinese equivalents and marginally more expensive than Korea's. You pay for the quality and this is exactly what I want. The texture is consistent and the taste is good, which is ideal for bread filling and other desserts.

Absolutely delicious!!!
Made some of these tonight and the bean paste is so tasty. Not too sweet, beautiful creamy smooth texture and even tasted delicious on its own straight from the bag! Will be ordering again regularly!

Loved it
I really enjoyed it, nice taste, and texture too, although the mochi ended being... bad... to say it civilized, but you get it haha Really good tho!!! Recommended!
