-5 Stars. APP will not work!
Currently, my rain robot is little more than a paperweight as there is no way to even get to the point of pairing it with a control device. I read the reviews stating that the app is an abysmal failure, but I rolled the dice anyway...and I regret it. The app will not allow me to even register an account. "No problem", I thought, "I'll just register via the website". As far as I can tell, this worked but it did me no good because the app won't allow a login either. It keeps showing a multitude of errors, the most common being 'A server with the specified hostname could not be found' despite trying on 2 different iPhones, and one iPad, each running different versions of iOS. The errors were the same on every device. So I tried scouring the rain robot website for help. (The 'knowledgebase' is laughable.) NOPE.Next, I tried switching my wifi from 5ghz to 2.4 ghz. NOPE.Then I tried turning off my cellular data. NOPE.Then, for kicks, I tried cellular data and no wifi. NOPE.I Googled for ages trying to find information on the various errors. Every one of them pointed towards programming/coding issues within the app. Finally, I contacted support through the website contact area where it opened a form to fill in and describe my issue. I did this and then noticed that instead of sending the form, it opened my email client and required me to send through that. That isn't a huge problem, but it points to a clunky system. Admittedly, I haven't waited days and days for a response yet, but there has been sufficient time to at least get the usual "We've received your message and will be contacting you shortly" type of response. So far...crickets.I would give negative stars for this product if I could.

Not reliable, inconsistent and ambiguous
I'm on the fence with this gadget, I'm a little upset about the ambiguity of the listing in a few ways, first, it indicates long range and programmable, where refers to smart phone usage, so I figured out its range is only about 25 feet, at least at my house, so don't think you can be out at a restaurant and decide to whip out your phone and control your water, it's not in a cloud relay or anything like that, you need to be in proximity and even then you still get a lot of spinning wheels trying to connect from your phone. Then there is the programibilty, here is was ticked me off, I could be standing right there by the device, I'll set the program times I want, save, it all looks good, you can go see how long till next water cycle etc however if your phone leaves that 25 foot range the programs don't run. That's kind of BS, I get no relay via cloud, device, etc but I don't think it would be inreasonable to assume when you set the timers in proxy to the device that the device would remember these programs and run them, but it doesn't work that way. So this was my application for the device, since I figured out before my trip that my phone has to be at home for water prog to run I used a spare iPhone 5 I have, downloaded the app, connected to the two rainbot devices I bought, set up the programs, then I left the phone power on, left it on a charger at home when I left town in a spot I knew it could communicate with the rainbot, and left town thinking it would water my grass and pool on a timer so I wouldn't have to turn off my pool pump when I left town for the week, if the water level gets too low it will burn out my pool pump. All I can say is thank God I have good neighbors, I can see the pool level on our security cams and could see the water level falling to a dangerous level and the hose never came on at scheduled times to fill the pool. So it is NOT reliable as they claim, my neighbor was nice enough to go to my pool pump and turn it off for me till I get home so it's not ruined that would have been a $900 screw up. So the device works with your phone when it wants to not at all consistent and def not reliable as they claim. I also think it's kind of shady they boast the feature that stops it from running if rain is forecasted, because in the fine print it all but say, yea that won't work without the "gateway" and that is coming soon... really? So it doesn't have that function so remove it from description! I got 3 of these but I'll return one and keep the other two in the event a good firmware update or gateway comes out and it eventually will work better, I also don't want to discourage the technology or development by going below 3 stars because it's a neat gadget and I want it better developed. So if you are going to spring for the $50 each, just understand that it is not reliable, don't expect it to run and preserve your new sod or keep a pool filled while you are away, it need to be monitored, which is annoying because it's not like you can sit on your sofa out of the rain to turn it off because there is a 50/50 chance it won't connect even in range or that if will run as programmed. If they changed the listing to be more realistic and honest, dropped them to $30 each, I would say you get what you pay for.

Love this little device
I've had the RainRobot for a few weeks now and use it to top off the water in my small swimming pool from a water hose. I use the iPhone app to turn it on when I look out my window and see that the pool needs water. No more stumbling out to turn the hose on and off, and setting a timer to remind me to turn it off.It was easy to install -- screw it onto the water spigot and screw the hose onto it. Setting it up on the phone app was a breeze and trouble-free. Be aware that the connection to the device from your phone is via Bluetooth, not WiFi, which means you don't need home WiFi. It also means that the distance between your phone and the device can't be more than about 75', assuming your signal must go through walls. I've had no issues. It has several features that I don't need and don't use , such as scheduling, 4-zone control, and rain-interrupted schedules. It seems to be well constructed and is holding up very well to being exposed to rain and sun. It operates on two AA batteries and you can see the battery status on the phone app.

but when it comes to schedule time the app sucks it will not give you the ability of selecting ...
I but this product for my Garden irrigation system, at first I was impressed but by using the product for more of a week I came across some issue, 1)The app is ok, for start and stop the water flow, but when it comes to schedule time the app sucks it will not give you the ability of selecting a specific time of start or stop but it give you options of setup only by every 1H, 8H, 12H, 24H ecc. so you really don't have a full control of a specific time of the day or duration of the watering time expect the preprogrammed times.2) The rain delay in the app dose not work.3)In one occasion the valve turn on by unscheduled time all by it self for 3h.

Beware of continuous flow of water
Worked for 33 days. Woke up one morning to a lake in my backyard because the unit just decided not turn itself off. Replaced batteries and tested while not on the spicket. Seemed fine so put back on and yep it says closed but man is the water flowing.Scheduling sucks too if you want it to turn on at 4 am you have to wake up at 4 and set it because the app is not smart enough to have its own clock. You can only set it to 24 hours from now or different timers.
