Long considered a delicacy in Northern Europe, cod liver is an essential source of Omega 3. While cod liver is full of health benefits it is also a versatile, gourmet appetizer. This Norwegian cod liver is prepared with bay leaves and black pepper

I like to chug the oil...
You may find this cheaper at your local ethnic store. This stuff is high high in Omega 3 (30 gram per can). So never throw out the oil. Crush some garlic and add to the oil. Great with some toasted bread. Cod livers may have worms. I have never seen one in a can. The worms love this stuff so it MUST be good. The burgers in Mcdonalds stay fresh for months if you leave it outside - nobody except humans wants to eat it. Bacterias and Mold and worms and bugs won't touch that garbage. Not with cod liver. This one tastes kinda mild which I prefer - unlike some other brand which can be thick and tasting like motor oil and strong fish. This is also high in cholesterol - which would boost your testosterone. There is no link between heart disease and cholesterol. Its a lie. Biggest scam ever. Do your research. Also surprisingly this oil wont necessarily make you fat. I chug cans of this oil before hitting the gym and I have 6 pack abs. I wouldn't eat more than a can a day though when I eat them. I prefer it mixed with some steamed rice with some spicy chili. Keep in mind this stuff is high in Vitamin A (Retinol) which is the real Vitamin A used in your eyeballs. It also is high in Vitamin D3. Your liver will store these as a fat soluble Vitamins. Too much of this or too much of eating ANY liver (including chicken, beef liver) can be toxic.I don't think you can go wrong with this brand. Really tasty.

Dented cans, one opened inedible
Tastes good. The two cans that came to me intact but dented. Had to throw one away. Will not buy again. Packaging was terrible.

Damaged in shipping- only 1 of 3 were edible
The can that was good was high quality, but two of three were damaged. Amazon will not allow a return on this. Three cans are wrapped so the packer cannot see damage. Good product but awful fulfillment.

Inuit-Style Treat
According to two other reviewers: "The taste is remarkably fresh for canned" and "The Japanese would describe it as Umami." I quite agree with both of these observations. Some cautions, however:You can't just open a can and eat it as if it were a can of sardines, or even a can of oil-pack tuna. The product is extremely oily -- in fact, it is 60% oil (richer than triple-creme brie)! It happens to be a healthful oil with vitamins A and D and Omega 3 fats, but it is still a bit much. I compared the nutritional values to a somewhat smaller can of oil-packed sardines. The cod liver had less protein than one might expect -- 9 grams versus 16 for the sardines -- but off the chart on calories with 1165!To make matters worse, the instructions on the can (if you can read them -- they're in four languages and the tiny print requires a STRONG magnifier to see) say, "Must be consumed immediately after opening." I strongly suggest a skeptical regard to that. The "remarkably fresh" taste does change quickly even in the refrigerator, but the result is not unpleasant. A little fishier, perhaps. I kept some for over a week and it was still tasty.By the way, you ought not to waste the oil. It is of course sold separately as cod liver oil and is a fine nutritional supplement. So, I suggest a strategic approach to consuming a can. You don't want to eat it all at once (even if you have help), regardless of what the label says.

It is not at all like what you would expect - very little fish or ...
The other day I made a little snack: some bacon, and King Oscar Cod Liver on some crackers. I had a hard time finishing the bacon cause I filled up so much on the Cod Liver. Seriously, this is one of the tastiest things I've had in a while. It is not at all like what you would expect - very little fish or liver taste.Like other reviewers have stated, it's hard eating it in one sitting, even as good as it tastes. There's a lot of calories in this can and it will give you a feeling of fullness rather quickly. I could tell after a few days in the refrigerator it began developing a stronger taste and odor, but even this was still very palatable. Worth the money.
