Cute and works well
I liked the idea of a fire hydrant for dispensing poop bags. The spindle holders inside keep it straight for a nice even dispensing of bags, though it does hide when you are down to the last bag. Others have had trouble with opening and closing the top, but I have found it very easy and it locks nicely to hold the bags inside. The only real problem I have had is with the carabiner, which I found to be extremely cheap and does not close on its own, nor does it line up very well at times. Still, it has held up ok, but something I will have to consider replacing soon. The only reason I haven't already replaced it is the plastic cap of the fire hydrant does not allow for a very thick carabiner like I already have for my nitroglycerin holder, so will have to get a small keyring loop to fit in between them. Still, have had a number of laughs and comments over the fire hydrant and puppies that I have been walking, so the purchase has served its purpose well in functionality and cuteness.

Pretty good but had difficulty attaching it to my dog's leash
This is very cute and it does the job well. I have been using it with Bags on Board doggie bags with no problems: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UCU53U/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_17I had to remove one star from this dispenser because the connection method to tie it to your dog's leash is weak. The manufacturer includes what looks like a thin red zip-tie that you are supposed to thread through a tiny opening at the top of the hydrant. The zip-tie is quite thin / weak. Plus, once you secure it, there is no easy way to un-tie it, such as to switch the leash onto which you have it tied. I would have preferred a larger opening at the top of the hydrant in order to accommodate a sturdier metal fastener (such as a carabineer).

Awesome Bag Holder
Super cute bag holder. I bought two, one for my boxer and the other one is for my husky. I attached them to my dog's body harness and they are very sturdy. My boxer like to roll around on the grass and so far, it hasn't fallen off. It was pretty tough to get it off at first, but I find it easier to use the connector that comes with it to help me twist off the cap.

There are better options, and worse
If you a have a dog, you know you have to have bags. Accepting that we all know the concept of a dispenser is brilliant, I'll look only at the functionality of this particular item.Who knew dog bag dispensers were such a to-do! In the year we've had our little pooch we've been through about 5 different holders. They all seem to have a design flaw. This one was easy to get the bag out of, which is a good. On the bad side it is very difficult to get the top off to refill the bags. The zip tie that holds it on snapped after a couple of months and we didn't know the dispenser fell off, leaving us with no bags and a pile of poop. Not so good. We prefer the bone shape dispenser to this one.

Life saver on Doggy walks!
I was having bad luck using grocery store bags to pick up "deposits" left by my two Labs when we were out for our walks around town. The bags either had holes or were too thin (you know what happens then), or blew out of my pocket. Then I heard of Bags on Board! These are fantastic! They fit inside a small "hydrant", which I can attach easily to my dog's leash, and they don't blow away. I have yet to have a bag fail, and I'm on my 4th roll! They are big enough for "Lab Size Deposits", yet small enough to carry (once filled) home.Plus, they are cute! I've had a few people ask what it is. It's a "Cool Idea" THANKS!

The sturdiest I have found!
The Red Hydrant was the first bag holder I bought. I added a small metal key ring hoop to secure it to the leash. As time went on, I purchased a duplicate leash for travel and a lead for training/controlled walking. Thinking it didn't matter, I purchased similar quality holders. All three broke within the first two weeks of use. I went to my primary pet store and found the were no longer selling the Red Hydrant. I got on Amazon and found it quickly. I bought 2! One to use now and one for back up in case they are discontinuing it. I still have my original on my most used leash. It is a beat up and dull but it is sturdy and reliable!

It didn't come with anything to attach it to my leash so I have it with me every time I take my dogs for a walk. I was able to find a metal hook that fit thru the small opening at the top of hydrant. It isn't a screw top so I have to use a knife to pry the lid off to refill it. I prefer the bone version.

Cute
Yes dispenser is hard to open. Had to have the hubs use a screwdriver. Bags are of good quality.

Missing half of the package.... poor service!
The package was opened and poorly taped closed, missing the interior bags, and non returnable or refundable...... poor customer service to say the least. The unit itself is fine but I am unhappy with the overall package.
