how wide is the belt?

Arnold, thanks for your question on how wide the belt is. It's 6 inches tall in the back and the men's size would also be 6 inches tall in the front. what are the dimensions of this product? Max chest size?

This brace is 6" wide and had a circumference of 37" at rest. The sizing for this is universal and it goes up to 60".

Will putting this in the dryer ruin the brace?

I dont know for sure but my recommendation would be to hang dry. Anytime you have rubber, elastic, or spandex material you should keep away from high dryer heat.

Would i need to get the universal male, or the plus size, with a chest size of 58 inches?

Thank you for your question about the size. Both the mail and female sizes fit up to 60 inches while the Plus size is a 60 - 80 inch chest circumference. You are on the border with your measurement and could go either way. If you think you might like to have additional length so there is a double layer of wrap around the front of your torso, then order the Plus Size. If you think you may like a little less overlap, then you can order either the Male or Female Size since you fit into that size as well. The Female version of this brace has a curved cutout in the front of the wrap while the Male and Plus size are a 6 inch rectangle with no curved cutout.
