We had a whistle go for 22 months before it died but it was used 24/7 for almost 2 years and over 5500 miles of dog activity. We replaced that with the switch. The form factor is very nice and the spare battery system is great. When the old unit died your dog was “off the grid” until the recharge happens. Fortunately the battery lasts at least a week. With the switch, you take off the dead battery and put on the new. Back in action is seconds… the functionality is as excellent and precise as our original. We experienced a run away the second night and found him within minutes.Activity and health tracking are remarkable and ensures he gets all of the activity he needs every day. It doesn’t get tricked by car rides.The one watch out if you had the whistle go is that the switch has a dedicated collar. This means you cannot use your regular collar and clip a whistle onto it. Rather you use the collar that comes with the whistle. It is a very nice one and has a ring for a leash and or name tag.

Unfortunately, today my dog ran away and as soon as I noticed it, I grabbed my phone and started running out of my house trying to get the whistle app to pull up and find my dog through the GPS tracker.. sadly the app just kept saying that it was trying to connect to my dog's collar and was not able to connect using the "Find my pet" feature. Luckily, a lot of my neighbors had seen my dog run across their yard and talking with them and following them to find my dog is what helped me locate my dog, this app just sat there the entire time trying to connect. Then when I finally got my dog home, it told me that the my dog was in the safe zone (at home) and then showed me the route that he took when he had ran away.. so it was picking up on everything but when I really needed it to work, it failed. I don't recommend this collar.

I had to get mine replaced under warranty as the batteries were draining every 12 hours. The battery is now lasting 7-10 days. The location and activity take a while to update at times. It's not perfect but having tried several dog trackers, it's the best available at the moment.

I love being able to see what my dog does during the day. I've discovered that I don't walk him enough. He's a happy pitbull and he loves to go for walks and it gave me a suggestion as to how much he needs to exercise. He's in great health, but I don't walk him enough. Thanks to the app he's now getting great exercise and if needed I could always send the info to my vet. Thank you so much for this product! Anything that makes my boy happy makes me happy.

The GPS function works well and has helped us find our dog a couple of times. However, the device failed after 7 months and Whistle will not warranty it. They make you pay for a full year of service up front to use the GPS function. I now have 5 months left of service I paid for but cannot use since the collar failed. Whistle Support told me to buy a new collar and they’ll give me a free month of service. I think a $200 collar should be way more durable and be backed by a better warranty. I am going to give Tractive a shot and see if they’re any better.

I have had 2 of these for border collies for around 6 months and have already gone through 3 collars straps per dog. First issue is for active dogs this collar does not stay on well. The collar doesnt stay through latches and the ends get destroyed. I havent had this issue with any other collar. You have to buy the replacement collar from their website. Then these collars will fall off. For a gps collar you would think it would be easier to find but it ends up being a couple hour endeavor every time just trying to find the collar, which usually happens about once a month. It seems if you are still in wifi range the collar wont activate despite activating find my pet on the app, so you have to walk around until you get bluetooth. If I were to keep using the collars I would punch a hole through the opposite strap and add some sort of locking ring to keep the strap from coming undone.If you have multiple dogs you cant set multiple safe zones, they have to share the same zone. For most people that probably wont matter but if you need to keep 2 dogs separate then it wont work.The battery life started off good but they are already deteriorating only 6 months in. They only last a few days now and then have to switch it out.The activity and health aspect seems good. I dont do anything with the information but it is interesting to see how many miles my dogs walk a day.I will not be renewing the membership.

I have been using Whistle trackers for 7 years. I bought the Whistle Switch through Amazon in February of 2022 for my new puppy. I registered the product with Whistle. They track my pet and know exactly when it was activated. My tracker battery stopped working so I asked for a warranty replacement. Whistle advised me that purchasing their product on Amazon voids the warranty. They will not replace it. They told me I had to go to Amazon and not Whistle for product support. Of course, it does not work that way. Amazon does not warranty products and product support closed in August of 2022. Whistle is to provide the customer with a one-year warranty. Now, I have an unprotected puppy, a useless tracker, and I continue to pay for monthly tracking services. After two weeks they continue to deny responsibility. They continue to say the warranty is void. They offered to add a few months to my subscription service. Pretty funny considering I cannot use the tracker to access the subscription service. With no warranty protection, that is a very expensive thing to find out after you have prepaid a year's subscription service and no longer have a tracker. Buyer Beware!

I would not recommend this product. I originally purchased the Whistle Go Explore, and its power failed after about 12 months. I then purchased the Whistle Switch collar because it comes with two detachable batteries. Batteries will lose their charge almost immediately, plus I identified an issue with their connection to the tracker device.After a very prolonged back-and-forth with the manufacturer’s support desk (months), they determined the device had failed. Since it was within the 12 month warranty period (I contacted them after four months of use), they said they would provide a replacement - I just needed to provide my receipt. Since I purchased it through Amazon, I sent them that, and they said I could only get a replacement through the Amazon seller (I purchased it new). This seller said they would only take returns up to 30 days from purchase date.If the device would work as advertised, it would be great. While I caution you about the reliability, if you choose to buy one I would strongly urge you to purchase directly from Whistle, as purchasing through Amazon meant I couldn’t resolve a critical issue confirmed by the manufacturer.
