Nuance Power PDF Advanced 2.0 (Old Version)

Really powerful. Not joking...It’s light weight on memory and has lots of choices to edit and save pdf documents. It was a bit confusing while I started using PRO features right in the first contact. But learning curve is easier and shorter than with other software of same class (heavy weight belt ones...).-PROs: TCO (unbeatable); MS Office-ish interface layout (thanks Nuance!); Editing tools (lots and lots); WISIWIG in displaying, editing and printing (quite important).-CONs: Interface color scheme can make you a bit lost during first contacts with the machine panels. It gets better while you repeat usage down the road.A quite personal note:It's supposed to be not a CON at all, but as soon as you set Power PDF as your standard program of system to open .pdf files, you will turn your .pdf MIME into icons all painted in neon purple... Nothing against neon purple over my MIME icons, but I would rather something less dazzling on my File Explorer. (LOL) .In summary: I'am quite impressed and pleased with quality as well as with relieability of this software. It's stable and complete for the majority of tasks which an advanced user like must handle. If you try it, it will be difficult not buying it.

I've used Nuance Power pdf Standard Version One for a few years and just replaced it with Advanced Version 2 (actually 2.1) Main reason is that I plan to convert many HTML web pages to searchable pdf documents. My web pages being varying lengths, this poses a real challenge. Advanced 2 says it can help me do this.Here's an example of a recent project. Had a pdf created by scanning from an old, long out-of-print 120 page book. First, I created a two page introduction in word processing and saved it as a pdf document. Then I prepended (put in front) the new pages. But page 99 was out of sequence, so removed it and re-inserted it in the correct place. Then with one click I made the scanned text searchable. (This software should let me edit the resulting text and resolve any problems.) I also created a clickable table of contents. If chapter 6 started at page 80, one click and you were at page 80.BTW this is Windows software: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 through Windows 10.I received a CD with a serial number and nothing else. It was scary, but when I was done I activated it with the serial number. No way was I going to pay $180 a year for Adobe's product.

I would have given this 5 stars but for two reasons. 1: cannot register it. it errors out on the web site. 2: i try to go on the web site and any place it directs you does not come up. there is no way i can contact either by email or phone to address this issue. you cannot activate the product. it has been like this for 1-1/2 weeks trying every day to get it registered. until im able to activate the product i don't plan on changing my rating. DO NOT BUY till they fix this issue.UPDATE:it took 2-1/2 weeks to get this product activated. i moved it up 2 stars. when i got it activated.PRO:1: program is a good one in itself. if i rated it alone it would be 4-1/2 stars. it contains features like indexing and creating catalog index's likes adobe's full blown version for the fraction of the price. the major issues i have with it is in the CON section.CON:1: it took 2-1/2 weeks to get it activated. the web site had no way to go in and manually activate it. the links all crashed when selected. when i contacted by phone all i got is a prerecorded message saying that activation was not available.2: Service from this company, in my experience is rated 1 star. If i could go lower i would.

Near 5 stars, but not there yet. I heard about Power PDF on radio for a couple of years, but hesitated to buy. Then I saw reviews on Amazon about only getting a disc without a box and having difficulty installing, and hesitated again. Finally, ordered. Yes, I received a disc without a box. I'm not a computer geek, but I know enough to put a disc in the disc drive and wait for an installation dialogue box to come up. That's what happened. I followed the steps, and the software installed with no problems on my core i5 7th generation (kaby lake) laptop with 12 gb ram. I found the module listed on the start menu and it booted right up when I clicked it. I began to explore the task bar - very straightforward, with a search box that makes finding tools easy. Also provides a help button with choices for local or web based information. Within minutes I was able to open a non-searchable pdf, convert it to word, convert it back to pdf, and make that pdf searchable. Figuring out redaction took a bit longer, but not much. So, why not 5 stars? For one thing, it would be helpful to have a manual that could be printed out for us older folks and for those who simply like to sit around and study how a software module works. I would also like to be able to highlight text without having the comment feature attached to the highlighting. These are picky things that others may not find a problem. Considering that I paid in the $115 range for this software instead of $499 or something similar for the professional acrobat, I am pleased.
