Does this work to also kill aphids?

I made a tea out of it for fungus gnats and this took care of it.

is it safe for the pump in water fountains?

I would doubt that would work. Seems like the bits would clog up the pump. I use the bits in my potted plants indoors to alleviate gnats etc

Can these be dissolved in straight from the tap water, or might the chlorine kill the live bacteria?

You're supposed to sprinkle them on the soil, then when you order your plans they activate If you have chlorine in your water you shouldn't water your plants with it

How much do you have to use? I feel like i only need a tiny saltshakers worth not a whole bag?

I put some on the surface of my outdoor worm bin and the mosquitos left. I used a generous sprinkling, but not the whole bag. The bin had an area of 1.5 x 2 feet. Your area may be bigger. Use your judgement, you can always add more if needed. It isn't toxic.
