June Gold 0.5 mm, 640 Lead Refills, 4B, 4 Dispensers/w 160 Pieces Each

Great lead so far. I ordered the June Gold 0.9mm 4B lead refills to pair with my Pentel GraphGear 1000 mechanical pencil, to use for the illustration class I’m taking. I have no complaints so far. The lead is durable, it has a nice, creamy-smooth lay down of pigment and it works perfectly for shading. You don’t have to apply much pressure to get a nice, rich, dark lay-down. You can achieve a wide variety of shades by varying application pressure. Definitely capable of laying down some dark, crisp lines as well, even in the large 0.9mm diameter. It smudges fairly easily, but that is to be expected with any soft graphite. It’s also very easy to remove pieces of lead from the container, contrary to what some reviews here say. I will be purchasing more from this brand in the 0.3mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm sizes to pair with my other 3 GraphGear pencils.

I am very happy this purchas. I didn't buy these to draw or sketch. I write with them, so I cannot comment on the quality from an artists post. I like using pencils and fine point is my favorite. These 4;B are dark and non have broken with me yet(its very new less than a week and little use thus far). I bought 2B and they were softer than this so I am happy. I have Pilot leads and I would compare these to those ans say they are about the same. I will update if any difference is noticed.

It's almost impossible to find 4B replacement leads for mechanical pencils. We use pencils a lot for note taking, writing drafts, puzzles and the like, but the typical 2B leads that come with them are too hard, and not dark enough to easily see what you've written. These are absolutely excellent -- and so inexpensive that I've thrown away all the 2B leads in the mechanical pencils we own, and replaced it with the June Gold.

I’m pretty impressed with this led, i use it while drawing, the only thing bad about it is that if you add to much led to draw or wrote with it is easy to break, especially if you’re not pressing down hard. As long as you don’t plan on using a very long amount of led at a time and just use a bit then it normally doesn’t break, so for the price this was pretty good. Though I bed there are better quality ones out there, but for a low budget this was really good.

June Gold is some of the more smudgy leads out there, but I personally find mind it. This is my first time trying this brand, and I accidentally bought myself a live time supply of 0.9mm 4B lead, but it turned out quite nicely. I can’t speak on brittleness because 0.9 is thick, and I personally don’t have a heavy hand when drawing/writing, but, these leads glide very smoothly, the lines are very pigmented down the paper, comparable with High Purity Pilot Neox Graphite. I’m overall very happy with this purchase and haven’t run into issues other netizens complained about, such as inconsistent size when precision drafting and uneven mix causing sudden scratchiness.

Nice soft lead, some breakage, but not much.

I'm almost 70, and I've been using mechanical pencils for 50+ years thus far. I've used HB lead and 2B lead, but this "June Gold 4B lead" is just fantastic! I'm running it in 0.9mm diam., and it just glides across paper with no scratchiness whatsoever. It's buttery smooth, and dark for great contrast. Simply put, this stuff is the best that I've ever used!
