Followed the directions and the hat fits great now. There was a lot of extra room for additional stretching if necessary. Worked great. My hat size falls between 7 3/8 and 7 1/2. This would easily do a size 8 hat. The stretcher is well made and solid. There are no rough edges and the turnbuckle adjusts easily. Review: The STRETCHERANATOR - This is a well built high quality hat stretcher. Good solid oak wood with large all-thread adjusting bar. The handle/crank works great and really does the job. I purchased a surplus Russian military ushanka (winter hat) that is a very heavy wool and cotton material with a thick quilted band inside. The hat was a 60 cm (7 1/2) and I needed a 62 (7 3/4). The stretcher worked great. This stretcher is strong enough to break a hat so don't over do it. This saved me from having to get a different hat. Also because the hat is also has a Mouton exterior no dry cleaners wanted to touch it. It would have been sent to a specialty leather cleaner that also does hat stretching.
