You can use this with tap water, if you only care about temperatures down to 32 degrees F. Or you can add methanol (which you can also buy from desertcart) to go as low as you want. Without methanol, it ends up being MUCH cheaper than buying some name brand - less than 50 cents/gallon. Also, look out for the green slush that goes down to zero degrees and seems to be relatively inexpensive. I almost bought that stuff, and after reading the reviews, I thought "no way"! If you want premixed, Rain-X at $5/gallon down to zero degrees F seems to be your best bet, because with this Aqua Charge stuff and desertcart methanol, it will cost you $4.45/gallon to make your own.

**Q: What is the freezing point?**
A: The freezing point of Aqua Charge alone is 32F.  Aqua Charge is simply the dye/cleaning solution.  This product will need to be mixed with Methanol to prevent freezing in temps below 32F. Use these rates to obtain a -20F freeze point:  1 quart Aqua Charge, 13 gallons Methanol in a 55 gallon drum, and top off with water.

**Q: Am I correct that this does not provide anti-freeze ?   I think I have to add methanol to get the anti-freeze property that is in the ready to use...**
A: Correct.  You would have to add something to prevent it from freezing.  This product didn’t seem much better than water and blue dye, so you might look around for other options.

**Q: I was mixing the product and got some on my hands , How do you wash it off? is like blue ink. Would stain the car's paint???**
A: The dye is strong and leaves blue color stains on the white paint of the car and countertops. It will clean up but I don't like having blue spots after using the windshield washer. Will be returning the product.

**Q: would isopropl alcohol work to combat freezing?**
A: Yes it does. My last batch I added 1 bottle of 70% per gallon and it is good down to about 15 to 20 degrees. Next time I'll add 2 bottles or find some 90%.

Got this thinking it would save me from having to drop a mint at the store every month to stock up on "blue water." It works just as well as premixed stuff. A few things to consider: There is no measuring device included so you kind of have to guess how much to add. I settled on 2 tablespoons to a gallon. Add it to the jug of water. If you add it to the jug and then add the water, it will foam up quickly making it difficult to continue filling the jug without a major mess. The concentrate WILL stain anything it comes into contact with, including skin. It mostly washes out of fabric in the first wash but still leaves an obvious spot until the next wash or two. It took 2 days to wash off of my hands, even with multiple showers and handwashings. Once winter comes, I'll add methanol to it as suggested to prevent freezing to see how well it works.
