Fixed the oil burning problem 2016 Forester
Worked in my 2016 Subaru Forester that was just chewing through oil. Buy the vacuum hose too as I had to cut the old one off.

Genuine Subaru Replacement - It DOES fit the Forester!
This is a critical maintenance on Subarus – actually on all cars but the Subarus seem to need more attention in this area. Perhaps the location of the valve has something to do with it. Failure to maintain these PCV valves will result in oil consumption or leakage. This is a direct replacement and takes just a few minutes to install as it is located right on the top of the engine underneath the intake manifold. As you can see in the photos, the hose from the intake manifold goes straight down to the PCV valve. Simply slide the clamp back on the hose (long needle-nosed pliers work well); remove the hose from the valve; replace the valve and then re-install the hose and clamp. Easy as can be. One note – the Amazon “parts fitting confirmation” program listed this as NOT fitting the 2015 Forester so I went directly to Subaru parts web site and checked the number, and Subaru does list this for that vehicle so I went ahead and ordered it. I believe that there was a part number change so that is probably why the Amazon listing was off. As a retired ASE certified mechanic, I can tell you that it (numbers changing) happens all of the time so I always check the vehicle manufacturers’ sites to confirm numbers. You should too!

Do it yourself maintenance
It's a pretty straight forward piece. It works or it doesn't. This one does. A little tight to get to on Outback but doable with a wobble socket extension. Make sure it is threaded properly. Do not cross thread. I bought the hose with it. A different design than original but fits fine. It was a lesser cost one but the construction of the hose is better than original.
