Oh Yuk Washing Machine Cleaner for HE & Non-HE Washers, Septic Safe, 16oz

Our washing machine has had this moldy mildew smell for awhile, and even after taking it apart and cleaning every inch of mold, dirt, etc. out of it, that I could find, the darn thing still smelled! I started using more detergent, more fabric softener, and even started buying those extra boosting liquids and fabric softener pods/beads to make the smell go away in our clothes. I was cleaning the washing machine every week with this concoction of Tide, Arm & Hammer, and Borax, which works great to get anything out of clothes, but all it was doing was pulling little pieces of mold out of the washing machine. Then I found this stuff and I read all of the reviews. I thought there’s no way this stuff can get rid of that smell, but it’s worth a try. I’M SO GLAD I TRIED because IT WORKED!!!! I followed the instructions and I used half the bottle, but I plan on buying more, so if one bottle cleans it two times, I’m okay with that. Anything is better than having your clothes smell like mold! It was so easy to use, no damage to our clothes afterwards, and as long as you keep it with your laundry stuff, you shouldn’t mistake it for medicine like someone else said they did. I was so relieved to grab a clean towel and actually smell my laundry detergent and fabric softener instead of mold. I’ve been telling everyone about it, AND I’m excited to try their other cleaners for the dishwasher and jetted tubs. I wish I had found this stuff a long time ago! My top loading washing machine began to emit an odor. I tried the self-clean setting, which worked for a few days, then the odor returned. I purchased this product and followed the directions printed in the bottle. That was nearly 2 weeks ago and there has been no odor since

I just used this for the first time yesterday (despite ordering the end of January), as I rarely have a time when my dishwasher isn't cleaning dishes, and you need to use it in an empty machine. I do a lot of cooking, so my dishwasher sees a lot of use. I do, however, frequently clean the trap in the machine, so there was no large stuff - food, hairs (we have a dog) and yuck - in there. But I saw where there was grimy buildup in the corners and on the edges/rims of the door. So I tried this, following the directions on the bottle for use. It certainly did help get those grimy spots in the corners clean, as you splash it on there first and wait for a bit to let it do it's work. I used a silicone sponge to get those spots cleaned up, running it up and down the door/seals for a good fit. That seemed to work great. What I didn't like was the 2 oz you are supposed to use before you let the dishwasher run for a long cycle. Even after I did that, I opened the door and there were still several spots that were dirty. Next time, I will try using half the bottle, since the 2 oz. I used (as per bottle instructions) didn't seem like it was enough, but I do have a very big stainless steel dishwasher. So I'm not totally off the product yet. It did half the job for sure. But was the DW spotless when I opened the door after a really long cycle? No. I'll check out other reviews now and see what other people did to make it work better. That's it for now! Still experimenting to get optimum value from the product...

I absolutely love this stuff. I have tried so many dishwasher cleaners for my mini dishwasher and nothing has ever gotten it clean and always left a residue. I used half of the recommended amount because my dishwasher is a counter top one. it got all the residue off! I’ve seen so many good things about this product with bathtubs and I was so happy to see that they had one for a dishwasher! Very effective they give you a great amount for multiple uses easy to use and doesn’t leave her residue so no stickiness! I will definitely be buying this product for the rest of my life as long as they are in business!

Cleaned the gunk out of my washer and dishwasher! Great product! I had a jet tub before, and their jet tub product worked beautifully to keep it clean.

I tried the Oh Yuk dishwasher cleaner hoping for a long lasting fix to the odors in my machine. The first cleaning made a noticeable difference and the dishwasher smelled fresh and looked cleaner inside. Unfortunately, the results only lasted about two weeks before the same smell started to come back. The product does clean out grease and buildup, but I was hoping for a longer period of freshness based on the description. It is not a bad cleaner, just not as long lasting as I expected. Three stars only, mostly because we still have a stench after 2 bottles of this.

We keep the washing machine clean and we're usually good and careful, but we're also human, so sooner met later: I tossed a damp cloth shopping bag in the washmachine, intending to add other items and run a load of laundry. Then I got distracted and forgot about it; by and by one of us closed the machine. Several days later there was a frightful stench in the kitchen that I couldn't track down til I spotted the closed washer. I opened it and the moments that followed were the opposite of fun. Pyew! Alright, no matter, I'll run it on the sanitary (extra-hot) cycle; that ought to take care of most of it. Nope—didn't touch it. Neither did any of my other items in my usual go-to washing machine cleaning arsenal. Sanitary cycle with a good brand of dishwasher detergent (contains the same ingredients as Affresh and other overpriced washing machine cleaning powders and tablets)—still stank. Sanitary cycle with vinegar—still stank. Sanitary cycle with washing soda—still stank. Okeh, I'm out of ideas! Don't recall how I stumbled on the Oh Yuk product range, but the first one to come to my attention was the jetted-tub cleaner. I have no jetted tub, but figured organic scunge is organic scunge, so thought I'd buy some—then came to find the Oh Yuk range also includes a product specifically intended for my purpose. A sanitary cycle with Oh Yuk washmachine cleaner removed the stench, the whole stench, and nothing but the stench. I like that it foamed up to fill the inner drum; this allowed it to get all up in the crevices and crannies of the outer drum and at least partway up the fill-water passageway. When the cycle was done, the inside of the machine smelt faintly of cleaner. After the next washload, the inside of the machine smelt of nothing—I use Atsko's Sport Wash/Zero Odor/Sensiclean detergent, which does not build up a residue like grocery store detergents and contains no perfume. A few weeks on, the machine still smells of nothing, which is exactly the desired result. Yay!

Works great!! I’ve been using the Oh Yuk! jetted tub cleaner for 2-3 years now (also amazing stuff!) I recently notice that my front load washer wasn’t draining well at all, quite a bit of water was collecting in that area under the door seal where it drains. I clean the machine somewhat regularly with either white vinegar, bleach, or the widely available name brand washing machine cleaner. I basically just clean it when the “clean washer” alert comes on. We’re pretty good about leaving the door open so it rarely stinks but on occasion it will and I’ll run vinegar through. So with it not daring we’ll, I knew I needed something more powerful. I knew what this brand did for my jetted tub the first time I used it so I decided to try the washing machine version. So glad I did!! I ran this Oh Yuk! through the washer, per the directions. Just a tiny bit of water remained in the seal. Huge improvement after just one cycle, but I felt it could be better. I mixed up another batch and poured some right into the door seal/drain. Much of it drained right away but a little remained so I was going to let it sit and soak for 10-15 minutes. But then I noticed something sticking out from under the seal. I investigated a little. And wow, was I surprised at the gunk I found! Apparently this stuff loosened it all up. I wiped it out as best as I could with a rag (that I promptly threw in the trash - it was that bad.) Then I poured some of the mixture onto a clean rag and wiped it all again. It really cleaned it up well! (Second rag went in the trash, too.) I then poured the rest of the mixture in the washer as directed and ran another cycle. When I checked the seal after I discovered that it had drained completely! I’ll use this for the regular cleanings from now on. I highly recommend this product! (Also, if you have a jetted tub (inside or outside), and you haven’t tried the Oh Yuk! for that, you should!)
