Some rooms make it impossible to not add something to a snare drum to dial it in. This solves a lot of problems. 3 different levels of muffling and you can flip it into an off position without taking it off. I have them on all of my snares and even added them to my toms just in case. The black leather will leave a mark on the drumhead if that is a concern for you. I always have a roll of gaff tape and a package of Moon Gel handy so why would I need this? I dont in all reality, but I'm glad I have it. (as pictured).** A: I can't answer why that happened. What I will say is that I prefer the M80 over the smaller damping system. The M1 has been updated using thicker leather. However, this creates a problem in that the leather won't fold up because a) it's too thick and b) the magnets are not powerful enough. I love the M80 because it does everything it is supposed to do and gives you plenty of flexibility. Be happy. I think you actually made out better in the long run. **Q: Does it work with mesh head to help double trigger issue?** A: Hi, good question. I have not heard if it does or doesn't. Mesh heads seem to be slower moving than a typical Mylar head. If you were going to try it, you might have the best luck with our bigger version called the M80 to add more weight and stop the resonance. I would look into the threshold of the trigger sensitivity 1st however. I would rather choose the right head and keep the drum open. For my ear, beats Moon-Gel or Zer-o Rings hands down. To my ear, they change the fundamental characteristics of the drum sound, making it flat and dead, taking the material you chose for the drum shell out of the equation. I've never made them work to my liking. But these are different. They don't deaden the drum and allow it to breathe while killing some overtones and ringing.
