Eau Thermale Avene Antirougeurs Smoothing Cleansing Lotion, 200 ml

This is the most soothing & mild face wash I’ve ever used by a long shot.I used to turn my nose up at anything that wasn’t sold at Sephora, but this stuff has me wondering why they haven’t caught on yet. I cannot recommend it enough.I recently bought Avene’s other cleansing lotion (not the Antirougeurs one) hoping it would be as gentle as promised, but it contained a very perfumey fragrance that I just couldn’t get past and ended up returning it.I thought that was the end of my Avene journey, until I learned that they’ve got another cleansing lotion even better-suited for sensitive skin(!) that isn’t only unscented(!!), but also even MORE soothing(!!!). I jumped on it immediately and haven’t looked back.Sometimes I use it as the first step in a double cleanse, following up with a gentle foamy one like Clear Collective Jelly cleanser or First Aid Beauty Pure Face cleanser (particularly on makeup days, however rare those are now), but this one rinses off so cleanly that I don’t usually feel the need for a second step.The fact that this doesn’t foam up can take a little bit of getting used to. It may also feel like something’s gone wrong when you don’t achieve that “squeaky clean” feeling after washing your face. However satisfying it may seem, that’s actually the feeling of a wounded moisture barrier stripped by harsh ingredients. It’s time to place that fleeting post-cleanse satisfaction in the past and *embrace the squeaklessness.*Avene Antirougeurs cleansing lotion goes on milky (looks & feels like a moisturizer at first), doesn’t sting eyes (as far as I’ve been able to tell), and rinses off much more easily than expected, leaving behind a moisturized, happy face and zero residue.As a skincare junkie with sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin who’s tried way too many products, I can say with relative confidence there’s just nothing else like this on the market.If you need more convincing, it’s also consistently rated as one of the best & most frequently dermatologist-recommended face washes for sensitive skin across the board.Whether you religiously adhere to an extensive regimen or take care of your skin as little as humanly possible, this is likely to work extraordinarily well for you.Just make sure you’re getting the Antirougeurs version, not the one with fragrance… and please please please follow up with a good cream. Just because this is called lotion & it helps moisturize your skin does NOT mean it is a replacement for moisturizer!!To quote many a reviewer, “run, don’t walk.” :)

I suffer from rosacea and this is the only cleanser I can use. Really gentle and calming, and a good make up remover too. Doesn’t irritate my skin and leaves it soft and clean.
