Q: Are the knives sharp to touch? Do they actually cut food items with skin such as cucumber, zucchini, and squash?

The knives are not sharp to the touch. Your child isn’t going to cut themselves by touching the blade. They will cut soft skin vegetables. I wouldn’t use this to chop up a butternut squash. We’ve tried fruit and cucumbers. The other thing is the blades are quite thick. My son first used them on strawberries. Some got a bit mangled looking but he still had fun.
