Very conveniently as opposed to The longer brush types. It seems well made and it is easy to clean. I spread melted butter on bread to make a grilled cheese sandwich so far. It spread the butter evenly and easily on the bread. I generally use a basting brush to spread butter for garlic bread, that is my most common use and I know this will work beautifully when I make my garlic bread. It does fit in hand easily because of it size. The problem I had with it when I was going to baste chicken on the BBQ it got hot because I didn't have a handle per say to get away from the heat.
