Question 1

What size tree would this fill heavily?

Accepted Answer

The tinsel should cover two 5 ft trees but it depends on how much you add each . I start trimming with using 3-5 pieces of tinsel. I tdyslly buy 2-3 boxes at s time so I have enough for the next year or two.

Question 2

Is it made out lead?

Accepted Answer

No - they are plastic or Mylar - I use them every year-its not a finished tree without tinsel!

Question 3

How do you clean this up the easiest way possible, when you take down your tree?

Accepted Answer

Taking down tinsel from a Christmas tree is a relatively simple task, and there are a few methods you can use to make it easier. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. **Gather Supplies:**
   - You'll need a step stool or ladder if your tree is tall.
   - Have a trash bag or container nearby for collecting the tinsel.

2. **Turn Off Tree Lights:** Before you start removing tinsel, make sure to turn off the Christmas tree lights for safety.

3. **Start at the Top:**
   - Begin at the top of the tree and work your way down. This will prevent tinsel from falling onto areas you've already cleared.
   - If your tree has a star or angel topper, carefully remove any tinsel around it first.

4. **Use a Gentle Touch:**
   - Tinsel can be delicate, so use a gentle touch to avoid tearing it or damaging your tree branches.
   - Hold the tinsel near the branch or needle it's attached to and gently pull it away.

5. **Work Methodically:**
   - Continue working your way down the tree, section by section. It can help to go branch by branch or in small sections to avoid tangling.

6. **Collect Tinsel:**
   - Place the removed tinsel directly into your trash bag or container to keep it tidy and prevent it from spreading all over the floor.

7. **Check for Strays:**
   - After removing most of the tinsel, carefully inspect the tree for any stray pieces you might have missed.

8. **Dispose of Tinsel Properly:** Once you've removed all the tinsel, seal the trash bag or container and dispose of it properly. Tinsel is often not recyclable and should be placed in the regular trash.

9. **Store or Replace Tinsel:**
   - If you plan to reuse the tinsel, carefully coil or fold it and store it in a cool, dry place to prevent tangling.
   - If you're not planning to reuse it, consider replacing it with new tinsel or other decorations next year.

10. **Inspect and Store the Tree:**
    - After removing the tinsel, inspect your artificial tree or water and care for your real tree as needed before storing it away.

Taking down tinsel from a Christmas tree can be a bit time-consuming, but by working methodically and gently, you can ensure a smooth process and keep the tinsel in good condition for future use if desired.

Question 4

is this the old style tin tinsel?

Accepted Answer

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I bought 3 packages, and it's the modern plastic kind. I tried to put it on the tree, and didn't get more than 12 strands on tree before I threw it out!!! The old tinsel had metal in it; originally lead, and later tin. I'm looking for the old fashioned type with tin, too. Someone said it's still available from Germany. In the 1970s the US banned it due to children and pets eating it.
