Fantastic way to power your WyzeCam if you don't have a plug-in handy
This little inexpensive device is a fantastic way to install a camera where a plug-in is not handy, or if you just don't want to deal with a bunch of wires. Installation Installation is literally as easy as screwing in a light bulb. Remove the existing bulb, screw in the socket adapter, then screw the light bulb back in. There is a USB outlet for your camera. It's designed to work with the WyzeCam v3, and the USB plug fits snug to maintain weather resistance. Connecting I have installed two of these, both with the camera. Install the app, power the camera and follow the prompts. You'll need to scan a bar code from your phone, and press a button on the back of the camera (which can be a bit hard to reach if you've already mounted the camera). The whole process takes 2 - 5 minutes. You do need to have a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection where you install the camera. Usage The light bulb can still work the same as any light bulb, but to take advantage of the device and camera, you'll need to leave the switch on all the time, and control the bulb with the app. You can schedule it to turn on/off at specific times, or you can have it turn on/off at dusk/dawn (which works flawlessly), or you can manually control it with a tap in the app. Durability I can't speak to cold or snow, but my first socket adapter has lasted through a year of incredible heat (120º), extreme UV exposure, severe sandstorms, massive amounts of super-fine dust, and the occasional thunderstorm without any problem. It is somewhat protected as it is installed under an eave, but it is otherwise exposed (there is no encasement of the bulb - it is fully exposed). It has lasted beautifully. I've had 0 problems with it in a year. Conclusion Overall, I highly recommend this device.

Made for Wyze cameras only
The difference between this adapter and others that have USB power connections is that this communicates with Wyze cameras. It can turn on the light bulb either based on dusk to dawn or if the camera sees motion; or if the camera senses sound. You get to configure it. You can also configure how long the light stays on when it senses motion. (If that's how you have it set up for). Generic ones basically are set up to use smart bulbs that will turn on/off (usually dusk to dawn). If not, the bulb would be on all the time. Remember; you CAN'T TURN OFF the light switch or you lose power to the USB port also. There are others that say compatible with Wyze cameras, but the price is pretty much the exact same. Might as well buy the one made by and for Wyze. But if you need a way to connect a camera in a location without any power for the camera power cord, this definitely will get you what you need. But without the Wyze camera connected and linked to this socket, there's no way for the socket to provide electricity to the light bulb to turn it on.

It works... But needs more clear instructions.
It turns out that the original V3 USB cord does not have data connections on it so that's why the socket was not being recognized by the camera. This was not written anywhere in the instructions but is buried in the FAQ somewhere on the site. The poorly trained support in the Philippines apparently are not aware of this either and so I only saw it in the reviews on amazon! I guess this is partially on me but why would they give you a slightly shorter power cord with this package and then have a disabled cord on the camera itself that has the longer cord? It's like they're setting the customer up to fail. At any rate, it works now about the same as all their other products - which is pretty good for the money but not great. My original review is below: I already had my V3 cam connected to a front porch via a $2 adapter I bought from Home Depot, but I thought it'd be nice to put a bulb in there too and have it come on when motion is detected or at night if I want to get more light. So I got this thing, screwed it in and plugged in the camera and so far so good until I tired to set it up. The router is literally 7 feet away from both the camera and the light socket and the camera has been working just fine but this thing does NOT connect. I have followed everything including a factory reset and it still does not work. I contacted WYZE and it was an overseas person who had zero knowledge beyond poorly reading the same things that are on the website. Given that I don't want a light bulb on 24/7, I'll likely return this and save the $15 with the home depot socket adapter.

Wyze Up and just buy it.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This will work for V2 and OG cameras to pass power through for camera, but motion light operation will not work. The light will always be on, I knew this when I purchased it, I just needed the receptacle for usb and will use a remote operated bulb. Since this goes device goes to a switch, I recommend getting a switch stop as seen in pic, so someone doesn’t accidentally shut your camera off. You can see I wanted my camera on the white beam to blend in with Wyze white camera color. As always Wyze is impressive, I’ve had 7 of their cameras for almost 10 years now and with 5 of them outdoors and they’re still working great.

Easy, great item
I have used this brand for almost 10 years. All of the products seem to last extremely long. I think this one that I was replacing I have been using for seven years. It's the exact same technology as what I used before. My camera was working perfectly but the light bulb would not turn on with my outdoor light so that's why I replaced it with this one. Simple installation exactly the same as prior, I did not need to take down the camera just to change out the socket for the lightbulb. I have light again so I am extremely happy. Shipping was super fast and very secure. I absolutely love the price.

Great for powering a nearby V3 cam, but sunrise , sunset schedule fails to work
Update: after physically rearranging my 3 sockets, moving the one with the most recent MAC address to be directly connected to my v3 cam, the entire group have been working flawlessly! Updating to 5 stars. I bought the first one to power a new V3 camera off a garage mounted porch light, and for that, it works well. Discovered that it was “smart”, and could operate additional units as slaves, awesome! Bought two more to go in my front entry porch lights! Set the sunrise and sunset schedule. They turn off in the morning just fine, but fail to come on at night, until cycle the porch lights power completely! Using the app to cycle just the sockets doesn’t fix it However, even though the socket loses its lunch to power the light bulb, it still provides power to the V3 camera! Very odd behavior. So, I could do away with any scheduling, and just leave my porch lights on 24x7, but it sure would be nice if the scheduling feature actually worked consistently.

Great concept, unfortunately long-term reliability is poor
I’ll give the concept 5 stars, this is a fantastic idea. Being able to install a camera anywhere there’s a light bulb socket is incredibly convenient and makes setup simple and flexible. However, after living with these for 3+ years, they’ve proven to be unreliable and, honestly, a bit of a headache. Typically, they work fine for a few months, but then the camera “loses” connection to the lamp socket. Reconnecting them can be frustrating and sometimes impossible. I’ve had to replace 4 out of 6 units (some under warranty), but even the replacements have had similar issues. To their credit, Wyze support has tried to help and troubleshoot, but the problems persist. At one point, they offered to replace all of the sockets, but by then they were out of warranty. The only resolution offered was a $15 credit for all 6 units, which was disappointing. Most of the sockets still provide power, so the cameras aren’t completely unusable. Unfortunately, functionality has degraded: for example, some units now only trigger the light during the day instead of at night, which defeats the purpose. Overall, it’s a great idea in theory, but in my experience, the long-term reliability just isn’t there.

Works - Doesn’t work with motion detected light
The Wyze socket works with the Wyze 3 camera. It doesn’t work if you screw it into an outdoor motion dector light. Needs to be a regular light socket for the camera to work.

Continuous power without using app
I have a Toucan camera and it's original socket is broken, and there is no replacement part for it. I found this item and plan to give it a try. It totally works and I'm pretty happy with it. It is not cheap though.
