A quality holistic product that excludes bad ingredients
Edit 7/5/2018: Everything below the squiggly line of Tilde symbols is my first review on the product. I am updating to share about my experience with the improved formula.~Hello everyone! I had to come back and update my review which remains a 5 stars, but it would be 10 if I could make it so. Most of my viewpoints are the same in my previous review, so I wanted to talk about the differences. I reached out to the company to ask about these changes, as with a cat with Kidney disease I have to be careful. One wrong choice and before I know it he would be in critical care and in a wooden box for burial. Since I learned about the changes, agreed with them bought it and willingly gave it to my cat I have come to further love this formula.Firstly, the big one for me is they improved the strains of probiotics. I have been diving into deeper reading about different probiotics and what they can offer in health benefits. They kept the main 3 I needed for my cat to help filter the toxins out of his blood from his diseases kidneys but they included a few that are known to help with blood sugar help, mood help, and immune boosting help! The second biggest change was their enzymes. They no longer use DegiSEB super pet, which I learned was a proprietary blend that even they didn't know what all was in it but instead formulated their own! Same with the probiotic blend, it's of their own formulation. I couldn't be happier to see pancreatin in the list. Most enzymes come from plants, fungus or bacteria, but pancreatin is animal sourced. I know my cat is a species designed to eat meat. So to me it makes sense that enzymes from an animal source is going to be much more effective and just help catch anything that wasn't effected by the other enzymes. And I swear they must have read my disappointment with the previous formula having plant based liver flavoring because now, it actually has real liver in it. This was so important to me. Flavorings, what plants do they even come from? What process was even done to them to make a flavoring? What do those flavoring molecules even do in the body long term? Even now, in people products we are starting to hear that "parfume" or "fragrances" are terrible for the body. What about "flavorings" in people and pet products? So the addition of real powdered liver to make it taste like liver is just pure awesome to me. And my cat /loves/ it.Still a little sad to not see the addition of black pepper though, so I still have to keep adding a dash to my cat's food every meal to make the turmeric much more effective for him. It's important too, because with kidney disease, inflammation is a HUGE factor into how well any pet does. No one wants to be in pain, and just the pain of constant inflammation at the kidneys can't be the easiest to deal with.I have noticed the turmeric is much more noticeable in the formula but I am totally ok with that. The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric is in the oily yellow staining molecules of turmeric root, so to me I am beyond happy to see the formula much more golden. I have used the new version for about a month now and my cat has increased in activity a little bit more than the last formula. His poop is still good and healthy without a "gas out" effect that some cat poop has. He doesn't get spit up or sick which a lot of CKD cats get and over all just a happy active cat with a healthy appetite. As for my other 2, they both are doing great with healthy poop, no problems with it and like the flavor. For the final part I love, price. The price is still the same between the formulas of new and old. I did ask why when the new one had basically half a jar more servings in it. They told me that it was the DegiSEB that jacked the price up because it was a proprietary blend but since they formulated their own could improve the formula, concentrated it a bit more and they got rid of the flavoring and brought in real powdered beef liver plus better sourced organic turmeric. This all ultimately made it less expensive with so much better quality. This let them put more servings in a jar and keep the price the same. I for one cannot complain about that! I had noticed the dose change with less was needed to be given as a serving. So a large jar should last me even longer now.Thank you so much for improving this formula! My CKD cat depends on it with his life. Literally.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hello to all who are interested in finding a quality probiotic, especially to any owner who has a pet with kidney disease. I want to detail out my experience with this probiotic and a bit about the ingredients as to why I even decided to try this product out of the hundreds in the world.First I will start with that it is my belief that to many supplements have what I call "crap ingredients". These are things like Sugar which when looking into sugar alone, has over a thousand different names from dextrose, sugar/sucrose, maltodextrin, honey, the various types of syrups or crystals.. the list goes on and a simple search will reveal just how sad how much sugar in its various forms are added to pet and people products alike. Pure paw also excludes crap additives too like TSP/TSPP.I have personally used this product for some time and have not had a single problem with it. I have 2 cats and a black Labrador. All of them have started taking the probiotic which I put in their food and none of them have once turned their nose up. Their bathroom habits have not changed for the worse but I have noticed a slight perk by reduction of odor from their poop, by no means am I suggesting it smells like daisies but it's not as strong of a smell. Over all none of them have had any adverse reactions to the supplement and only have gained benefits from it.Now about the actual ingredients; I did email the company about some before I even tried the product."Hello! I just had a couple questions about the pure digestion supplement. Are the ingredients all organic? Animal sourced ingredients, are the source animals grass fed (for example the beef liver flavor, is the liver flavoring from grass fed cattle)? What is "DigeSEB Super Pet" in the ingredients? Is this product made in the USA and are all the ingredients sourced from the USA? Thank you!"The email I got back was very friendly and they are more than happy to answer questions."Thanks for your interest in our Pure Digestion. This is Venice from Pure Paw Nutrition. The beef liver flavor is from a veggie source that replicates the beef liver flavor. DigeSEB Super Pet is a trademark material specifically for pets. It is a multi-enzyme blend of Proteases, Amylases, Cellulases, Lipases, specifically formulated to naturally support a healthy digestive process in dogs and cats. Highly processed modern pet foods are often lacking in the enzymes pets would get from a more natural diet. DigeSEB Super Pet can help supplement diets so that pets more completely digest their food, resulting in better digestion and overall health. This is a premium formula with premium organic ingredients. Lastly, it is 100% made and sourced in the USA. Hopefully, this helps you! "I previously had been looking for a probiotic that also considers the need for digestive enzymes and prebiotic in the diet of a pet as well. And Pure paw delivered. Not only with their DigeSEB does it offer the full array of enzymes which breaks down food compounds into easily digestible particles for the probiotic, but also a prebiotic for the probiotic to thrive on. Prebiotics, Probiotics and Enzymes is a trifecta that needs each other in order to be of much use to the body. As I have come to learn probiotics (aka gut flora) is needed for the body to digest food and absorb nutrients, and as I learned when looking to add a probiotic for my cat with CKD some strains exist which aid in bodily function. The probiotics however can't quite exist in the intestinal walls too well which is where the prebiotics come in, allowing the probiotics a place to exist and thrive on, a breeding ground of sorts. However the probiotics have a rough time breaking down food compounds by itself which is where the enzymes play a role. The enzymes along with stomach acids digest the food not for our bodies to work with but to let the gut flora further digest and convert the food into body available nutrients. This fact is often over looked by most probiotics on the market. As I mentioned some strains of probiotics can help with bodily functions and this is where I give a giant shout to pet owners with cats or dogs with CKD. This probiotic offers the three key strains which aids in kidney function by doing some of the work of the kidneys in the gut before the protein synthesis biproducts ever reach the kidneys to do their job. Two of these key strains are easily found in most probiotics being Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum. The third probiotic is Streptococus thermophilus. This third is much harder to find in probiotics and I have so far only found it in three, Pure paw, Pet Ultimates, and Azodyl. Pure paw is the only company to have this kidney trifecta with a prebiotic which is the FOS listed on the ingredients list and digestive enzymes which again is the DigeSEB on the ingredients list, making this product much more convenient to a pet owner with a CKD animal. For the other ingredients on the list, there is dried coconut oil which is spray dried and organic which means the coconut oil was not hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is known to turn some fats into Trans fats which is known to be toxic to the body. Coconut oil has been a more recent trend in the media and is toted for its great health benefits which makes it a great addition to the formula. The pumpkin powder is a great way to add in some fiber to the nutrient which can aid in canine or feline diets that are not of the highest quality. Turmeric is also present in the formula which is a great addition to help aid in inflammation. Often we hear about how Turmeric is great for joints but it can also aid in body wide inflammation not just in the joints. And lastly on the main ingredients list is the Atlantic kelp. Kelp is wonderful in supplying a whole food source of Iodine which aids in thyroid function. However Kelp not only helps the thyroid but also aids in dental as well. Kelp is known to help keep tartar from forming out of plaque which makes it easier when a dog chews a bone or toy to scrape off the teeth keeping a healthier mouth (and not so much dragon breath). The last two ingredients being the beef flavored powder which exists to make it more palatable and tasty for the pet and the Silica that comes down to keeping the powder a powder instead of a caked up block in the jar. Not sure if excluding it from the actual product for a bunch of silica packets in the jar would be a better choice though it doesn't seem to have a noticeable effect from being eaten. Now I do have a few things I wish would be with this products, it does make me a little sad they used a plant base that mimics beef liver flavor, especially when reading about desiccated beef liver powder has so many health benefits. Liver supplies so many key nutrients that most pet owners let alone people often over look because liver is an organ meat. Have a look at the nutritional make up to any organ meat and you may question why it's not a staple in pet diets or even human diets (the potential "gross" factor aside). Quality ingredients matter, organic plant ingredients and animal ingredients should come from pastured, grass fed organic animal sources be it beef, chicken or more exotic animal sources.I would also love to see black pepper added to this. A quick search on google can send you to learning about how turmeric is most effective when paired with black pepper. Black pepper isn't toxic to cats or dogs and would be a great addition to this awesome product to make it that much better nutritionally.

Excellent ingredients, including turmeric, pumpkin and many others to support nutritional health
No image, its like its on the pictures. Fine powder, dog does not mind it when I sprinkle on top of food and do not mix it in. Liver flavor helps. I feed mostly raw, with veggies, eggs, sardines, oils, and such. 70LB, 7 month old Doberman, very active. This helps clear intestines of parasites, good flora and fauna in the gut makes it unpleasant for worms to live and reproduce, thats great. Additionally I ground pumpkin seeds and add more turmeric curcumin for extra gut health (and a bit of garlic, but thats raw and separate from this).I heard from owners that 1 or 2 dogs disliked it and 1 threw up. But I recommended the product to dozens of friends and they love it.I am on my 4th or 5th batch! Lasts me about 2, maybe 3 months sometimes.

IBS gone, helped solve GI issues
Great product. I have a very sick dog with Cushing's disease and IBS caused by the Cushings. Our first specialist wanted us to do the hypoallergenic dog food which made thing worse to the point of bloody diarrhea. I switched vets and switched to home cooked food and wanted to add prebiotics, probiotics and digestive enzymes. I spent a lot of time trying to pick the right and most complete formula and settled on this product. I liked the addition of Tumeric, kelp, pumpkin and coconut oil as well as the digestive aids. Dogs GI system is doing great no diarrhea, no gas for over a month now- this is the most important thing and why I will continue using this product. In addition his coat is slowly starting to regrow in some areas, is soft and has shine again. The IBS for now is gone with normal solid poops and no gas! Wish the made a bigger size since I'm going to start my other two (healthy dogs) on this too.

great product / dog doesn't like taste
First I have to thank the woman who wrote the lengthy review and warned about the likely first reaction. My dog definitely had one burst of a bunch of poo everywhere! And then very quickly it went back to normal.Second, I have no doubt that this product is a really fabulous product -- I've done a lot of research and the ingredients are really good and one of the only products I've seen where you can combine pro and probiotics as well as turmeric, coconut oil, etc.Third, the support by this company was really very good. They wrote back and communicated quickly. The biggest complaint is that my dog hates the taste. She won't touch her food with it on it. I trick her into trying to ingest some of it by putting it on fresh meat or egg on her food. I think after reading several other reviews that said the same thing this company would be better served to provide a product with no added taste. My dog is 16.5 years old!! And she's unbelievably healthy. One of the reasons is the use of Standard Process products but the reason those products work so well is because they don't have any taste - so you can just add it to food. Also i give my dog a syringe full of something called Ningxia Juice and used to put in her probiotic every day. Because giving this probiotic requires a much larger scoop (then just a probiotic you pull out of a capsule) it's impossible to find another way to give it to her unless she eats it. And she won't eat it. Unfortunately I cannot keep using and have a jar full I can't use. But again if you can get your dog to eat it I think it's an amazing product.

Didn't work for my dogs
I was excited to get this for my sensitive stomach boy. His dog food has prebiotics and probiotics but since he always is picky and easily upset I thought it was a good idea to give him extra. I had tried a few different brands before but liked the idea of this. He seemed to like it just fine. But after a few days he started randomly urpping. I wasn't sure why but when my daughter brought her dog over I gave him 1/4 of the recommended amount and within an hour he puked. I decided there was too much coincidence not to suspect this product so I discontinued using it. The urpping has stopped and I returned this product. In theory this product looks great. Ingredients looked great. Just didn't help my pets.
