Hi yes you can keep it warm on the gas hob on a very low light the bottom pot has boiling water in it and the top one has the Turkish tea in it as the tea is strong you can top your cup up with the boiling water and the boiling water keeps the tea hot but don't let it boil dry hope this helps

is handle made of plastic or metal?

Some has metal some metal . If it is filled usually plastic if it is only frames metal. Should be able to tell from pictures

Dose the handles get so hot ? I don't want to use a cloth to use this kettle

No, the handles don't get hot- I leave both pots on a low gas and top up the top pot with the bottom one when I need to without needed an oven glove
