A utilitarian phone with… a keyboard!

Years ago, I owned a Nokia N97, and then a Motorola Milestone (called the Motorola Droid in the US). I love keyboard phones because I'm very used to typing on computer keyboards, and I've never got used to touchscreen keyboards. I ended up moving to an iPhone because of problems I had with Android at the time, but I really missed having a keyboard, and I knew if I were going to buy another Android device, it would be one with a keyboard. After all, Android's biggest selling point is that you can buy the device you want.It was incredibly difficult to find a phone with a keyboard. I actually have a Fxtec Pro1 X pre-ordered, but it's been delayed various times, so I wanted something in the meantime while I waited for it.I was thinking about getting a BlackBerry Key2, but it no longer receives Android updates. So I ended up finding the Titan Pocket as an alternative, and was surprised to see that I could just buy it on Amazon and get it delivered the next day. It feels like well-built, and seems like it would withstand some drops. The keyboard took some time to get used to, it's a bit small for my liking, however I've got used to it now, and I can type fairly quickly on it.The screen is good quality, although it would've been nicer if it was OLED. It's a small screen due to the form factor, but that doesn't bother me. Some apps may not display well on this screen size, however I have only had this issue with a couple of apps and the phone has a solution to this problem by allowing you to switch to a "portrait" mode with a gesture. The phone is fast enough for my liking, I haven't tried any games, but that's not why I bought it.The biggest drawback to this phone would be the camera, however this is in relative terms to the current state of smartphone cameras. For me personally, it works well enough in good light, but if photography is a big thing for you, I wouldn't recommend this phone. The keyboard can also be used for app shortcuts, and there's also a red button on the side which can also be programmed for some kind of shortcut. The phone has a lot of utility apps built-in, which is a nice touch. The phone has a headphone jack, which apparently is now considered a feature, but even more interesting is that the phone has an infrared emitter, so you can control any device that would usually be controlled via an infrared remote, such as a television or sound bar. It's a niche feature, but I find it useful.I hadn't heard of Unihertz before, and I probably wouldn't have heard about them if they hadn't made a phone with a keyboard, but they seem to make good quality phones and are a brand which I will keep my eye on.And finally, the price point. Many phones these days range from £500 to over a grand! This phone is inexpensive in comparison.I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a BlackBerry form factor or even just a phone with a keyboard, providing you don't mind a subpar camera.

Dont drop this phone or it will break.

Everything was good until I dropped it, then the camera stopped working. I managed to get it repaired and it was fine, then I dropped it again and now there is no service. This phone can withstand being dropped on the outside but the internal electronic components are prone to being damaged.I bought this phone explicitly so that I could drop it, I have not dropped it hard yet as I have done with prior smartphones. What is even worse is I have been the most careful with this phone and bought a case and screen protector with it.200 quid gone down the drain

Nice BlackBerry Substitute

I was concerned about the size of the screen, but it's no worse than using a larger screened phone with half the display covered by an on screen keyboard. If you're a serious gamer then this won't be for you, the screen is just too small, but for browsing, messaging and calling it's perfectly fine. After setting the phone up a pop-up appeared to say that an update was available so the latest security update for Android 11 was installed. The physical keyboard itself is quite easy to use. I have large hands but with a little perseverance the keyboard is fairly easy to master. There is also the option to have some keyboard functions on screen, which simplifies some tasks. Performance is good, apps and web pages load quickly and battery life appears to be quite good, no doubt this is due to not having to power a large screen.Build quality is good, I would, however, I would recommend a TPU or book style case, as the rear of the phone is quite smooth and therefore susceptible to scratching if not protected. Some apps don't display properly due to the screen size but there is a setting that helps with this, which makes the experience tolerable.Sound through the earpiece and speaker is fairly good - not Dolby quality but adequate for a device of this size. There is a programmable shortcut button which is very useful and provides PTT functionality for VoiP apps such as Zello or can be used to open specific apps which are user selectable with function settings for both long and short presses. The physical keyboard itself takes a little effort to master - anyone used to the BlackBerry Curve will be familiar with this, but the keyboard function are a little different to the BlackBerry. Once mastered, the keyboard becomes intuitive. There is an IR transmitter on board and an app that lets you set the phone up as a remote for devices such as TV, satellite box, sound system etc. I have used it with my smart TV with good results.Good value for the price and for those who prefer a small form factor and physical keyboard, it's ideal. I like Unihertz products, I use an Atom XL for my main phone, and I bought this one specifically for business use, much better than a slab phone for my purposes. To sum up, it's a neat, small device, well constructed and capable phone but it is in a somewhat niche market.

Excellent query physical keyboard phone

Had the phone about a week now and a real pleasure to use. Very good solid build quality, not as chunky in the hand as I thought it would be and very comfortable to use. Keyboard is great to use which is why I bought it in the first place, I wanted an old style BB and this didn't disappoint. The screen is obviously a lot smaller than normal smart phones and needs some getting used to but I'm happy to compromise to get the physical keyboard. Only one thing I have noticed is that I can't seem to get any alert sounds for eBay or the Royal Mail app for some reason but WhatsApp alert sounds work fine, I haven't tried email alerts as I always search those manualy and never push so maybe something I'm doing wrong but not sure. All in all very happy with the phone.
