Yes, it squeaks a bit but nothing to go nutty about. It's sturdy and shaped really well to fit your foot. I also use it for my hands. I have OA and gout and I use this most every day for a few minutes when I get up and before I go to bed; and in between if I've been on my feet for a long time. The wooden balls are hard, yes, but that's what you want. You don't apply much pressure to get results - better circulation and it just really feels great. It holds well on my carpeted floor but it's easy to push left or right for each foot or under my nightstand when I'm done. The only drawback to it is that it's for one foot at a time.
