VuPoint Magic IntaScan Smart Scanner Kit PDS-ST420-VP (Certified Refurbished)

After 2 much more expensive Xerox portable scanners crapped out I decided to go with something cheaper. I wasn't expecting a lot for the price and was very pleasantly surprised. It came with better instructions than the old ones and I was scanning within 5 minutes of opening the package. I've scanned several hundred pages and it works great. Fast too! While my main use for it is scanning receipts and documents, it also does a very nice job on photos, keeping them true to their original colors and clarity.Of course no product is perfect and there are a couple things I'd change. First the display screen is tiny, so tiny I needed a magnifying glass to figure out what the settings read for pdf or color and dpi settings. But after using it a couple times I can see where the little icons are and know what they mean, so not a big deal. The other item is that it scans every item individually, meaning I can't scan a multi-page or double sided document as a single pdf file.That could be a problem if this is your only scanner. I have a large duplex scanner built into my HP printer though and use that for multiple page or double sided items.Bottom line is if you need an inexpensive, quick scanner that does a good job, this machine is the ticket.

I'm impressed by the design of this scanner. I wall-mounted it in my pantry using two Command velcro strips to scan receipts. Buying it refurbished is a great deal because it comes with the SD card and four AA batteries. For receipts I have it set to 300 dpi, and the quality of the images is very good.

As others have noted, this comes "complete" with an 8GB MicroSD card and batteries. I was able to set it up in just a few minutes, and promptly scanned 57 pages without any issues. I was able to retrieve the first few images using the USB cable, then I just moved the SD card to my laptop to copy all the rest.

Just started using this yesterday and already it is saving me hours of time. Excellent user instructions. Easy to use. Can scan receipts, documents, checks for uploading - just about anything.Highly recommend.
