Ik kocht hem ter vervanging van mijn oude Logitech Harmony. Nou dan is de installatie in minder dan 15 minuten klaar want je kan op de app alle oude instellingen kopiëren naar de nieuwe. Maar omdat deze (de Harmony Companion) wat meer mogelijkheden heeft, wat ik eerst niet wist, kostte het me toch meer tijd dan gedacht. Maar nu ben ik wel heel veel meer blij.

Conoscevo già il sistema Harmony perché ho il telecomando Harmony 600, ormai consunto dagli anni di onorato servizio e dovevo rimpiazzarlo.Alcune delle recensioni che leggo credo non rendano minimamente giustizia a questo eccellente prodotto quindi aggiungo il mio punto di vista.Iniziamo dicendo che Harmony Companion è un pacchetto che contiene l'Harmony Hub e il telecomando "fisico" aggiuntivo, che assieme alle app Harmony eventualmente installate su smartphone/tablet inviano i comandi all'Hub. Il telecomando fisico è molto utile e immediato nel suo utilizzo.L'Harmony Hub si collega con i dispositivi da comandare via IR, o Bluetooth, o WiFi, a seconda di ciò che è meglio (ad esempio con AppleTV predilige il Bluetooth rispetto ad IR). E' pensato per comandare un sistema Home Theater composto da vari componenti (TV, STB, ampli, ecc ecc...) e mediante quelle che si chiamano "Attività" riesce ad accendere, spegnere, cambiare sorgenti / canali in modo coordinato, con la pressione di un solo pulsante, come se il sistema di home theater fosse un solo grande dispositivo.Rispetto al telecomando Harmony 600 (o successivi) la qualità del controllo è davvero totale, in quanto i segnali partono dall'hub che si trova accanto all'impianto e non dal telecomando che potrebbe trovarsi in posizione non ottimale (col rischio di comandare solo una parte dei dispositivi come a volte mi capitava con il 600).La configurazione iniziale si fa preferenzialmente con la app su smartphone, nel mio caso iOS, che ha riconosciuto immediatamente l'hub e ha anche importato la configurazione che avevo fatto a suo tempo per il mio Harmony600.Le sequenze di comandi che compongono un'attività sono editabili ed è possibile inserire anche ritardi per tenere conto di eventuali lentezze di qualche apparecchio da comandare, in modo che tutto funzioni senza anomalie.Il telecomando fisico "companion" dialoga con l'hub via radio e funziona anche da un'altra stanza (così come le app). Questo permette di fare il muting o spegnere, cambiare canzone, sorgente, ecc. all'impianto senza dover essere lì davanti.Sempre sul telecomando fisico in dotazione c'è da dire che le varie zone di tasti si adattano a ciò che si sta facendo, quindi ad esempio se ho deciso di guardare un programma da decoder DTT, il tastierino numerico e i tasti ch +/- comanderanno i canali del decoder, mentre il volume +/- agirà sul TV (questo vale per tutti i telecomandi Harmony a quanto ne so).Il sistema è fatto talmente bene che se cambio sorgente dal telecomando fisico con la app aperta, questa si aggiorna di conseguenza.Altro punto importante per me la privacy: il sistema si connette a Internet SOLO PER CONFIGURARSI e per aggiornare il firmware. Una volta configurato funziona senza bisogno di Internet. Per me questo è fondamentale, non voglio che la mia casa funzioni solo se la connessione a Internet funziona, né tantomeno che i comandi che do ai miei dispositivi passino per i server di qualcuno prima di arrivare a destinazione 2 metri davanti a me. Non aggiungo altro.Volendo infine estendere l'integrazione e poter comandare un numero arbitrario di dispositivi, basti solo dire che in un paio di minuti sono riuscito a connetterlo al node-red (https://nodered.org) installato sul mio computer, con il quale posso rilevare avvio e spegnimento di ciascuna attività, inviare comandi all'Hub e realizzare qualunque flusso di integrazione con il resto della casa.Non trovo interessante comandare vocalmente l'accensione della TV ma se lo dovessi fare probabilmente userei un sistema basato su Jasper o PocketSphinx, che funzionano senza bisogno di connessione a Internet.

This is such a useful product - and really well executed. It's a complicated task - don't under-estimate just how complex this unit is - and it tackles that complexity in a very logical way. The things that it can do - it does well - and the things that it can't do, it finds a way to manage that too.Here's the thing; you don't jut have a mixture of devices, you have a mixture of technologies. I have bluetooth remotes on somethings and IR on others and wifi API on others. Bluetooth is chatty and the remote knows what is on and off. IR is passive so the Harmony remembers what state and setting the unit 'should' be set too. That's where things can go wrong; someone walking in front of the hub at the wrong moment can result in some devices being on and some off which should be on.Luckily Logitech have thought of that muddle and there is a "FIX the ...." setting in the app. There really is no way round that, other than buy new devices that don't use IR. Maybe wifi or Bluetooth would be a better option and certainly something that I will be getting in my next sat box.All the multiple viewing scenarios are easy to design and assign to a single button. Setting the sound bar input, the source device, the default channel is all really logical. Adding the command to an Alexa means you don't even need the remote anymore! If you lose your hub or have to reset it or share complicates set ups, it is all synchronised in the cloud so your hard work is backed up.We are two years in using this, so very at home with it. Well done Logitech, good design, good support and brilliantly executed.
