Laptop is amazing and compact but can’t use on lap
The laptop is working greatly so far, and I love it.The only problem is that a lot of my work is done on a car or a plane, and using this laptop on the lap is difficult as the screen cannot incline more than 100-110 degrees. The design is very slick, but you miss the lap in laptop.

Light, responsive and fast
First some background. I came to this Dell XPS 13 having first tried the Macbook Air 2020 with its M1 chip, so this review will be partly based on the difference between the two, which were almost identical in price. I ditched the Macbook because it would often seize up when woken, meaning frequent restarts just to log in, and when it was logged in certain apps wouldn't open and the WiFi would often refuse to work. After some research I plumped for the Dell XPS 13 and boy am I glad I did. This laptop is light and clearly well made. The carbon fibre design and rubber feel to the body is a nice touch and makes for comfortable typing. What I love about this laptop is that it just works. After endless problems with getting the Macbook to log in and for the apps to open, to have a laptop that comes alive and logs in within a split second of fingerprint recognition is a boon. I am still amazed at how quickly it is ready for use when you open up.Of course, Windows is Windows so you either like it or you don't, but with the Dell XPS 13 you can juggle between apps, screen and desktops quickly and hassle free. After using it for a few weeks on a daily basis I can't recall one event where I've had for force close and app or the machine. It operates silently 90% of the time and the fan kicks in only when I have lots of browser tabs open, as they eat up the memory. The only deficiency this machine has over the Macbook is the trackpad. That's not to say that this trackpad is bad, in fact it's probably better than many other non-Apple trackpads out there, but it needs more force than the Macbook trackpad to get a click out of it, which an be a bit of a pain to handle when you're working with one hand. The Macbook trackpad was a joy to use and manipulate and this one, while smooth and able to respond to light touches as well as proper clicks, is probably the only non-premium thing about the Dell XPS 13.It also has a habit of flicking back up a page when scrolling down, but that could be something in my technique. And thirdly, I find that I often inadvertently touch the pad when typing, causing the cursor to jump a line while writing, which didn't happen with the Macbook trackpad. These are small gripes however that are easily remedied.Overall, I am so much happier with the performance and reliability of this machine over the Macbook Air. While it may be inferior in the trackpad department, and it may not look as shiny and clean as the Macbook, it can match it for speed and, crucially, is streets ahead when it comes to reliability and responsiveness.Would you rather have a Ferrari that frequently breaks down or a Mercedes that works every time you need it?

Laptop great, battery life not
The laptop it self is great, the OLED screen is very nice but I haven't been blown away by it like I was expecting to be after the rave reviews and given the huge hit on battery life I would have been better off with one of the non-OLED options. The trackpad is awesome, the keyboard is very good. I am not convinced their thermal management is great, I think the cooling needs to be better to get the most out of the processor in it. The biggest problem by far is the big hit on battery life with the 4k OLED screen and I just don't think it's worth it. If it was a much smaller battery hit then yeah, but its a pretty big hit to the point where I spend more time worrying about the battery draining than just enjoying using it.

Their tech support is useless
So I bought this laptop about 2 months ago, everything worked great, but the spacebar key broke. Works only if you press in the middle of the key (tried repairing myself but found one of the side clips broken). So I contacted Dell Support, they asked 100 questions from which half of them were pretty much the same question about "if its physical damage?" (facepalm... obviously it is, right?), they even asked for video which I sent them, and only after about 30min they told me, "Oh... it seems your warranty doesn't cover physical damage". Well thanks Dell.. guess they don't do Dell products as they used to.

Wouldn't turn on 2 months after purchase.
For the first 2 months it has been great. However tried to turn on today and nothing happened. Contacted Amazon chat who provided a link to a Dell forum which gave 2 or 3 'solutions' one of which was to dismantle! Amazon also said I could also send back for repair. Not what I expect for a 2 month old PC. Before I could respond to the chat I was cut off and asked to give my star rating for the help!
