Great bamboo DPN for the price that come 5 of the same size
I am new at knitting so I ordered these because I needed some DPN's. These were great, I am using some smaller ones now to knit some socks which is why I ordered them. I love that they come in sets of 5, because that give me four to put stitches on and one to knit with. So many different sizes are included I was amazed and felt like it was a great price, each set at the local knitting store was $10 and they are the same quality, bamboo and smooth. This set was on sale for 9.99 when I bought it, so I was thrilled. I liked using the smaller bamboo better than the larger needles, the smaller ones were easier to handle. The larger needles did not seem to be as sharp at the point to catch the yarn as the smaller needles. The only thing that I didn't like is that they are labeled by mm and not US standard sizes. The labeling also wore off pretty quickly so I had to size and label using a permanent marker. That wasn't hard but since I am reviewing I felt like this could be an improvement they could change. They do state the metric label in the directions. Needles are marked in metric 15 sizes: 2mm(US0), 2.25mm(US1), 2.75mm(US2), 3.25mm(US3), 3.5mm(US4), 3.75mm(US5), 4mm(US6), 4.5mm(US7), 5mm(US8), 5.5mm(US9), 6mm(US10), 6.5mm(US10 1/2), 8mm(US11), 9mm(US13), 10mm(US15). They come in a large plastic bag, where each set is then in it's own plastic bag. Update March 2019 - still using these and glad I bought them, they have been useful Update October 2020- These have been very useful for me. I have made 2 pair of socks and some hats using these. I broke some my O and 1 from being careless with them. For a beginner these are a great buy.

Fantastic price - huge size selection
I bought this set because I had gotten sticker shock when shopping for larger sized dp knitting needles. This entire set was only $2 more than buying one 5-pack of size 10mm dp needles at the local yarn shop! The smallest needles will most likely be useless since I imagine they would snap like toothpicks with even light use, but I'm sure they will come in useful for stitch holding/transfer/pick-up or other needle projects. Once I received the huge packet I realized that I now have duplicates of all of my middle size needles so I can make gloves/mitts/socks in pairs instead of one at a time. Particularly useful for a fiddly pattern with lots of color/pattern changes; no more making notes and marking off every row and hoping it all makes sense when you start the second piece in a week/month. If you don't already have a stash of dp needles I'd recommend buying two of these sets so you can knit in pairs. I've been knitting for 60 years and most of my dpns from back in the day came in sets of 4, not 5. Right now I have a pair of fingerless gloves in progress and each glove is happily resting on 4 needles with a 5th working needle just sitting there in the bag. There are no cryptic notes, no marked up print pattern, no recorded audio which will make no sense in 3 months, just a post-it with "gloves53 - start row 17" so I know EXACTLY which file it is on my USB stick and EXACTLY where to start. It's like plug and play for knitting! These needles are nice and smooth and I am VERY pleased with them, especially for the very low price!

Okay for the price but inconsistent
Nice but some splinter and have blunt tips so itโs hard to knit with them especially the larger sizes. See photo for comparison. Size 15 shown.

Serviceable, good value
There are some very strange review criteria for this item. Sheerness for knitting needles is a silly concept, but durability is not an attribute to be graded. Let me see what I can do to help. First, the size 7 US, is stamped by metric, correctly as 4.5mm. Of the five, there was a splinter on one needle, but it was an easy, routine fix. I scraped it smooth with a fingernail to remove the bit, and the bit of cotton it pulled from my yarn. I then buffed it a little with a bit of wax paper I warmed in my hand. I then knit across my stitches over the direction of the grain, not against it. After that, I didn't notice what had been a defect. Second, these are simple and basic. It makes them great for knitting at the store, in the office, in your truck at the railway cross. The skill needed to use them would be at a minimum, an advanced beginner. Modern patterns use a rating of intermediate. For a child able to knit a scarf in garter stitch, these can be used. Skilled supervision will be needed for the child, but because learning to use double points requires skill building. If you trust the child to use a knife at the table, then double points are equally safe. Third, the ease of holding these double points. They are lighter than metal. They are not cold in your hands. The ability to hold and manipulate while working stitches can be a skill, but, the material used affects how easy that is. It grips cotton well, so it's great for dish cloths if you struggle and loose stitches with metal. Fourth, the needle tips. They are on the sharper end of pointy, but not to the extent of drawing blood in normal use. Stepping or sitting on them might be a problem. They are not the most blunt, which is nice, but they are not graded, so much as the 2.75mm do not have less of a tip than the 8mm. The 4.5mm is for reference. The length of the tip, and the sharpness remain proportionate among all sizes. The dish cloth seen in the pictures above is at 27 stitches each side, and I have to scrunch them together at bit so they stay on. If I was going to make it any bigger, I would transfer the work to a circular needle at this point. It isn't uncomfortable to work, but I am now adjusting my hold to continue. That means the work is the desired size, because these knitting needles are 8".

What an amazing package of bamboo knitting needles in a large variety of sizes.
Wow, just wow. The bamboo knitting needle kit is an incredible value for the money. They are of high quality and I have fun knitting with them. What I like most about them the stitches are not sliding off. The needles are durable. I have several projects I want to use them for. Mainly for sock knitting. They are easy to use with the little stoppers if you even need them. Having such a variety of sizes is amazing. I recommend this kit of bamboo knitting needles.

Not living up to "no splits"
Despite seller claiming "no splits", "no Barbe", soon after using the 3.5mm needles I discovered one did in fact have a split end, a chunk missing out of it, that was catching every time I passed it though a yarn loop. I reached out to seller to get replacement for the defective needle. Seller claims to give assistance within 24 hours, but I didn't hear back for a week, and maybe only then because I sent a second message saying I would post a review. Instead of offering to replace the defective needle (I included photo), seller instead offered some tips, like to rub wax on the needle, so "wax oil" will supposedly fill the concave section (I can't imagine this would be a durable repair on a bamboo needle tip), or to polish with fine sandpaper, followed by wiping with hand cream. Very disappointed in the customer service. These (especially the thin ones) are essentially glorified bamboo skewers. I figured at this price point rather than do careful QC on every needle, they just give them a basic check and leave it to the customers to find the more subtle defects, and I figured they would replace the defective ones. But I guess I was wrong about that last part. I thought to go through all the needles, looking for more defects, since I might not otherwise notice them for years, but if the seller isn't going to replace the defective ones anyhow, then what's the point? I'm not leaving a vindictive 1-star review, because this set still feels like a pretty good value. I guess I may eventually try to sand down the defective tip, but in the meantime I've marked that tip with a Sharpie, so I try to avoid knitting with that end. Sad that I would have to resort to that, though...

Great DPNs
These DPNs are very functional to knit with. The material is smooth and yarn slides easily but grips yarn better than metal DPNs. They are also much lighter than metal ones; therefore more comfortable to knit with. The ends are just right: not too pointy and not too round. The sizing is stamped on each needles for easy identification. So far, I have not encountered any rough or splintered spots. Since they are made of wood, the rough spots can be lightly sanded. The thinner sizes are obviously not as sturdy as the thicker ones. They need to be handled a bit more carefully because they can bend and break more easily. I've tested the 2.5mm needles, the smallest size. They seem fairly sturdy in comparison to other wood DPNs that I own. For the price and the craftsmanship, this DPN set is a great deal.

Quality way above price point
What a surprise. Great selection and very high quality needles for the price. Let me rephrase that, very high quality. Individually marked, smooth as a babies bottom and excellent price. Just buy em!
