PRO: the price, the build quality, the image quality (when it is good), auto focus (when it works, about 95% time)CON: when shooting vertically, a lot times the picture is darker on right side. I made sure the lens hood is not the issue but still happens. Auto focus freezes once a while, and face tracking is not always working (this could be Canon’s software issue)Would be a good day to day prime lens if without these issues

Very pleased with the performance , Autofocus is fast and silent. My first copy wasn’t as sharp from corner to corner but second one I purchased was spot on. For the price there just isn’t much else out there in that range with autofocus rf mount. Great lens would buy it again.

Man I was excited to get this lens and it turned out to be even better then I thought! Can’t wait for them to release different style lenses for the RF series! I will definitely be buying them!

Image quality is sharp and clear, autofocus is fast and quiet. Really good lens for the price.

With the slow release of lens option out there for the RP mount. I decided to give this lens a try. Worked great for around 20 min. Then saw there was an upgrade port and on their site recommended to upgrade to v1.1.0. That is where things went downhill, the update ran fine, no issues but once I put the lens back on the camera it was useless, Autofocus died, No F-stop reporting, like a total brick. Sadly, the website doesn't provide ANY information, just a form and we all know how that goes. I even tried putting other previous versions but no luck. The lens looked promising in the first 20 min but be aware if you decide to roll the dice on upgrading the software. Sent it back for a replacement via Amazon, won't be touching anything on it after replacement arrives and setting a calendar marker to re-evaluate how it works before the amazon window closes since it seems the support is on your own.

You will not be disappointed with this lens. Great for portraits, but can be used in any scenario once you become proficient with pushing your gear to its limits.

The build quality of the lens is excellent! All metal with an extremely smooth focus ring. The front element is beautiful and the picture quality is very good for this price range. I purchased this after returning the Rokinon RF 85mm lens because I could not get support nor could I get firmware updates from the manufacturer. It's great that you don't need to buy a dock to update the firmware, it was designed with a USB-C port on the mount which allows for quick and free updates. The updates are frequent which is a great sign that the company is committed to the RF mount. The AF performance is quite good for stills and about average for video. It performs better than my Canon RF 100mm Macro when it comes to AF reliability. Overall, this is a great value and I hope that Viltrox continues to support the RF mount (let's hope they come out with a 70-200 zoom lens with internal zoom, or even a prime 135mm).

The autofocus is fast and the images are nice and sharp. I found this lens while looking for a longer focal length than my 50mm to use primarily for portrait photography. At 1/2 to 1/8 of the price of other brands for similar length, aperture and for the Canon RF mount I decided to take a chance and order it to test. I’ve only used it for a few test shots but plan on using it a lot more.
