There a huge choice of this kind of small headphone amp and I spent a while reading various reviews sites before deciding on this one. As I wanted to spend as much as I could afford on my new electric tenor ukulele (adding a practice amp later) this seemed the ideal stop gap, without spending too much.OK, so you're never going to get the very best out of your instrument with something costing so little, but I've found it ideal for almost silent practice. I tend to keep the gain fairly low, otherwise the "classic British distortion" can get a bit much for my taste. I use good quality batteries and they seem to be lasting well. It easily slips into a gig bag and the auxiliary in socket means you can play along with backing tracks / CDs you get with music books etc.I'm not sure how tough the plastic housing is. I suspect it probably wouldnt cope well with being dropped very often. Overall, a good sound and excellent value for money.
