Horn of Gondor :)
Quite delighted! Two of our kids got these for birthdays (four days apart), and are excited about playing 'signals' back and forth to each other out in the forest, ala LOTR. We did pull the metal reed that is built in. Many people assume that a horn is played by simply blowing, so the reed probably makes sense, though it is rather high-pitched. Picked up a couple of french horn mouthpieces and slid those into place. Both horns make a nice mellow tone. Great fun!

Don't waste your money!!!
The sound quality was the first issue that I noticed. It produced a very high pitch squeaky noise which was very unexpected. The second, and even more important, is that after using it about four times there was a weird noise and then it just stopped working. I assume the reed broke or came loose. I now have a ornamental horn that makes no noise. This would definitely be a zero star if allowed!!!

High pitch but fixable
Loved the horn looks great. Leather work sucks but you can always fix it. Only real issue i had was the pitch. Too high pitch sounds like a harmonica. If you cut that reed out and add a copper pipe reducer as a mouthpiece it fixes the problem. New mouthpiece gave it a respectful low rumbling tone.

Great product! I recommend to just cut the reed off.
Actually I'm very satisfied with this product. There is a few Kinks You have to do. But very simple. First thing is you must cut the reed off. Then take a drill bit and drill around the inner mouth piece. And that completely solves the issue. This creates the perfect Norseman warhorn effect. You can even paint it decorate it. I added my own designs. I bought one for myself and one for my daughter. Im Norwegian American so I get into the heritage of the Norse. Both work great

GREAT... with some modifications
The media could not be loaded. Great size, smells kinda strong but it is a real horn, leather works bad, reed is garbage sounds like a child bike horn but if u do what most people say in the reviews and either cut off the reed and put a trumpet mouth piece or do what I did and cut the reed off and drill out the hole in the end with a step down bit so it has a trumpet cone mouthpiece then sanded it smooth and u can make a pretty loud viking battle call with it with some practice easiest to play out of the corner of ur mouth while buzzing ur lips

Looks cool, sounds like a whistle
This was purchased as a prop for a Halloween costume for my husband who was a viking. Right out of the package it looked so cool. It was a nice size too. But had this weird smell. It went away after a couple days of letting it sit out but it was rough for a little while. Next, the sound is horrendous. Absolutely nothing like how you'd imagine a viking horn to sound like. Kinda reminded me of a whistle or like a kids bike horn. Very high pitched. He ended up just carrying it around.

Follow simple instructions to fix
If you cut off mouthpiece and pull out reed as above mentioned it is perfect, otherwise sounds as a high pitch harmonica. Smells as expected being a real horn

It going to need some work , but then it’s fine
I got this horn for a Yule gift . The first time I blew on it as the other reviews read I was horrified by what I heard . I thought maybe the other reviews were just being hard on the product. The way it sounds when you receive it is similar to a high pitch harmonica .Now that being said if you follow these steps it’s a pretty simple fix.It comes with a mouthpiece on it. The mouthpiece has rings around it count in to the last ring take a jigsaw and cut off the mouthpiece at that spot. Then u can get to the Reid that in there . Use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the Reid and pull it out . Now when you blow on it with proper technique it sounds perfect. Just like a Nordic war horn should. Also the leather work little on the cheap side, but that’s not big deal u can decorate how ever u want.
