Simple Designs LF2000-BLK Mother-Daughter Floor Lamp with Reading Light, Black

Not gonna lie, I was a little hesitant about ordering this lamp just based off the reviews but figured for the price what the heck give a try. If there's any issues just return it not a big deal. (Pros) It seems good for now. Assembly was very easy had it done in about 2-3 minutes. However, I could see why people were struggling when it comes to assembling the poles and the wire. You have to pull the wire at the bottom of the base each time a new pole is put in this way there's no slack. They don't tell you that in the instructions (READ THOSE VERY CAREFULLY) which is fine very straight forward. Plastic shades work great especially if you have little kids or grandkids. Gives off a tremendous amount of light in my bedroom. Especially love the reading lamp works great for the computer etc. (Cons) The base is top heavy because of that the lamp will slightly lean to one side not a big deal right now remember this lamp is designed to be set in the corner of a room not moved 10,000 times lol. The side lamp is little flimsy, I understand assembly isn't everyone's strong suit. Basically you get what you pay for which is fine Overall I'm happy with it. For the price of a simple lamp you just can't beat it. Remember don't expect quality again you get what you pay for.

Very pleased with this lamp for the price. For a lamp, it is pretty bright, especially when both bulbs are on. Not so much to brightly light a large room, but enough to add plenty of light for reading/working on activities and to illuminate a dark area. The lamp was easy to assemble, and seems pretty sturdy. It has had no issues with staying on or dimming or anything of the sort, and I have had it for around eight months (since late March 2021). It has stayed on almost constantly, and has not had any issues. The only few issues I have had with this lamp are minor. For one, after moving it around a bit and rotating it, the poles began to loosen somewhat, though this was because I unintentionally loosened them. I was able to tighten them back up easily, however. I also find that it will wobble a bit if you push on it or if you lightly kick the base. It does not wobble when walking by it or even when I stomped near it. It does not seem that it is in danger of falling over or anything like that, even if you kick or push it lightly. It probably would if you run into it hard enough though. Overall I am very pleased with this lamp, especially at the price it is, and highly recommend it. It is quite bright for a lamp; it has two light fixtures, one of which is adjustable/movable; it is easy to assemble; it looks exactly like the image shown and is stylish; and it is pretty sturdy.

Assembly: very easy, didn't read any instructions as i thought it was more than straight foward what needed to be done.. As other reviewers have said, you need to pull the POWER cable (at the BASE) as you screw in each rod so there isn't excess cable preventing the final rod from being screwed on. The final rod was a bit tougher to screw in than the rest of the rods as i still had a bit too much cable and it was getting in the way. I could see someone shorter than me finding this tough since you need access to both the base and the top at the same time at one point. My Findings: (THE GOOD) The lamp for my uses is great. For two reasons.. FIRST: I put it in between my desk and wall (near corner of room as recommended) which works out very well for one reason.. The base (of my lamp at least this might be a flaw with just my lamp) is not very stable. The poles are sturdy together but they tend to wobble (as one piece) on the base). For this reason i HEAVILY recommend only getting this if you can leave it somewhere where it won't be bumped into by kids or anyone normally. The second main reason this lamp is perfect for me is because i am using the LIFX BR30 Multicolor Light Bulbs (2 of them - one in each fixture on this lamp). The bulbs themselves are accessible VIA wifi through an APP or even my Echo Spot so i never need to even touch this lamp. Again, making the "wobble factor" not matter since it will hardly ever be touched or bumped into. Having the adjustable secondary light is awesome. Both fixtures fit the extra large br30 LIFX bulbs perfectly.. Worth mentioning - even just one of the LIFX bulbs is more expensive than this entire lamp haha (THE BAD) The only negative i find with this lamp so far (i only just bought it) is the base not being particularly sturdy. I believe i screwed in the first pole as securely as it can be and yet it still leans with the weight. Now, i still marked this 4 stars because one could argue that the added weight of my LIFX BR30 bulbs could be making it wobble a bit more. But to be honest, it was wobbling before i even screwed the bulbs in..

This a fantastic looking, well-made lamp — if you put it together properly. It’s not difficult and there is nothing wrong with the lamp or the instructions — you just have to fully screw it together and the people reporting problems in their reviews probably are experiencing the same issue my teenager did: I ordered this for my college freshman daughter. She reported (like many of the reviewers here) that the stem was weak and couldn’t be threaded together properly so the lamp wouldn’t stand up and was wobbly when she screwed it together. I thought Maybe she’d stripped the threads so I mailed her some plumbers tape to try on the threads but it made no difference. When we went to pick her up at college she had shoved the lamp into a closet saying it was “messed up” and not usable. Her dad and I took a look (thinking it was on its way to the trash) and immediately saw she hadn’t assembled it properly. The threads in the stem must be screwed in fully to each piece (as far as they can be screwed in, until they can’t go any further) and then the whole thing goes together beautifully — it took us less than two minutes to fix the problem. It was simply a rookie mistake that my daughter didn’t realize that the threads needed to be fully in each piece before the next piece was connected. Lamp is now put together and a great addition to her room.

This lamp is not high end. It's just an inexpensive, utilitarian lamp. It does the job very well for lighting up a room, and that's it. It's not the sturdiest lamp in the world, but it you put it somewhere that it's not going to be disturbed, it will be perfect. Also, it's great to have the three-way uplight AND the standard gooseneck light so that you get both whole room lighting and task lighting from the same lamp. I love it and would definitely buy it again.

Received it, tried to put it together twice, same result - 2 of the vertical pole sections just slid together, impossible to screw together & tighten, inside threaded part too small or outside part too large. It literally leans / folds over. Very like too many other reviews I failed to see. :-( It's a very nice overall design but a pole lamp without a pole that holds together is a pile of parts on the floor... Trying again, replacement ordered, but this failed for others... UPDATE: Very quickly received replacement. The threads screwed together tightly. The top 2 pole sections, containing the 2 wires between the top lamp and the reading lamp, were difficult to get together because the wires are long enough to allow the 2 sections to be separated and folded in the package. But they can't be moved toward the top or reading lamp when screwing the 2 sections together, so you have to push hard to screw the 2 sections together. Although stylish, the pole is smaller than many others, about 1/2" to 5/8" outside diameter, so inside there's little room to compress the 2 wires to facilitate screwing the sections together. So I twisted them in the "lefty loosey" direction about 7 turns which brought the sections together some, then just worked hard to get them together in the "righty tighty" direction. To avoid over-twisting wires going to the sockets, some pole lamp assembly instructions say to twist reverse before screwing together to avoid the wire becoming short due to twisting and pull on socket connections, but in this case the untwisting while screwing pole sections together fights assembly. But it can be done. They need to put the top 2 sections together at the factory and just use a longer package, use a larger diameter pole to allow compressing the wires, or loop the reading lamp wire into the 3rd section down to allow room for compression while assembling the top 2 sections. Anyway, the lamp is assembled. But I'm using LED bulbs which are longer than incandescent bulbs. Admittedly, the instructions reference maximum 100 watt 3 way bulb in the top and 60 watt in the reading lamp, which while not stated implies incandescent bulbs. Unfortunately my national home improvement store chain LED bulbs protrude beyond the shades - the top 3 way about 3/4" and the reading lamp about 1/4". I'll live with it but manufacturer should consider increasing depth of the shades. Although typically for fire safety, as done some way for most lamps, the shades have rather large adhesive foil labels stating maximum (incandescent) bulb size. But in the translucent shades they're unsightly as they create a very obvious dark area seen from the outside. The labels can be removed, but again, are typically for fire safety. Manufacturer should find a less conspicuous method of labelling. The base of the replacement has 2 light but noticeable scratches, a 4" and a 1". Some sort of removable gunk was on the base around the pole connection. Factory QA should have caught all. I'll live with it. Positives are it works well and the translucent top shade illuminates a room very, very much better than a ceiling focused LED disk type pole lamp I tried. The reading lamp is nice for reading, or with its flexible neck can be used to direct light in a desired direction. And the price is nearly half of that for the ceiling focused LED disk I tried.

TL;DR: Same lamp as from Walmart. If you can get it from Walmart, get it there because it's cheaper. This is the same exact model of floor lamp as you can get at Walmart (Mainstays 72'' Combo Floor Lamp with Adjustable Reading Lamp). We've had good experiences with them: they take common bulb types, are nice and bright, and reasonably sturdy. One of them started failing after many years of use, and it was time to replace it. Side by side, this one and an older one from Walmart are indistinguishable. So if you like Walmart's cheap floor lamp like we do, you'll like this. I usually buy these at Walmart, and they are a good deal cheaper there, but when I was trying to buy one a few weeks ago, they weren't shipping them - you either had to go into the store or do a curbside pickup to get it from Walmart. I'm not going in there during the pandemic if I can help it, nor did I want to spend time or gas driving over there, so I guess I paid a convenience fee in a way by buying it from Amazon. I just looked now while I was writing this, and of course NOW they are available to ship from Walmart. Just goes to show how much things can change in a few weeks' time.

I received the lamp in a quick fashion. It was fairly easy to put together and it looks quite good. The lamp was bought to offer more light to my room as I do not have dedicated lighting for lighting up my craft room. I need to replace my overhead fan which has no light with a fan that does have a light included. I do wish that the light shades were made a bit more sturdily in as much as they are plastic and would require bulbs that burn less warmly, as in LED lights as opposed to incandescent. As I am still setting up the craft room I haven't exactly used the lamp for the purposes planned on.

Adquiri este producto, me gusto mucho sus acabados. Sobre todo que hay una lampara que se puede utilizar de como "lampara de pie" y otra como lampara de lectura, esto hace que sea muy versátil esta lampara, no utiliza mucho espacio y me parece un precio justo... La recomiendo ampliamente. Ah por cierto llego bien empaquetada y en buenas condiciones.

Es un buen producto, vi en otros comentarios que es muy delgado pero a mi me acomoda muy bien, los domos de las lámparas son de plástico pero no se nota. No inluye focos pero son fáciles de conseguir. El armado está muy sencillo, sin ver el instructivo se deduce cómo hacerlo, sin embargo, el mismo instructivo no da las indicaciones correspondientes, le falta información.

La lámpara es bonita y ligera. La parte superior tiene diferentes intensidades, por lo que hay que comprar focos adecuados. La lámpara de lectura es conveniente porque se puede mover y ésta sólo necesita un foco con una sola intensidad.
