Does it all
Another great phone from sony. I've had this like 3 months and forgot to review. The main thing to say is it just works. It does everything I need and I never have moments where I feel like I am missing something from not choosing a different device. I used few other brands over years but keep coming back to sony. The updates are FAST. I am using OREO and not many people can say that yet. The phone never randomly lags up on you. If it is anything like the Z3 i owned it will last me two years and still work fine after the 2 years. I tried an Axon 7 and after 4 or so months it was not like the phone i took out the box anymore. That thing got slow and laggy and I refuse use a phone i have to factory reset every few months to work right.Front facing speaker I love. IP68 I love. SD card slot is always useful. Headphone jack ALWAYS useful when my bluetooth ones die or forget to charge. USB C charges the phone fast with the qualcomm quickcharge. fingerprint sensor on power button is the best placement ever (the back of phone was ok but this is way better IMO). The screen in my eyes in gorgeous but I am not picky on that aspect (Never seen a phone screen in recent years disappoint). PS4 controller support etc is amazing feature. Camera I truly do not use often but I thought pics looked fine.

Great phone! Super fast and responsive
Great phone! Super fast and responsive. Really great build and feel to the phone, ergonomis have definitely improve since the Xperia Z5 Premium (my last Sony phone). This phone is the international version (I believe it's the Chinese version) so the finger print SCANNER IS ACTIVATED, which is great and the scanner is very responsive and fast even more so then previous Sony phones, also don't need to wipe your fingers as much to open it like I had to sometimes do on the Z5 PREMIUM. However since this is and international version it comes with a European charging adapter and the company who sells the phone provides you with a US converter that you attach to the adapter but it is a third party converter and it looks really cheap so I would not use it. So I am currently using a Sony adapter from one of my older Sony phones. If anyone knows how to get the official Sony quick charge adapter, please comment it would be much appreciated! 😁

International edition is the way to go, with a few quirks.
This is an interesting product in the current grant scheme of new phones. The current theme for cell phones seems to be going towards minimal bezels, waterproofing, and lack of headphone jack. The XZ Premium thankfully only nails one of those, waterproofing. The international edition of the XZ Premium is honestly how the phone should have arrived in the U.S. The fingerprint sensor is function, while not the most accurate in the world. Having it on the side is both a blessing, and a curse, as you have to hit your finger just right for it to work. It's also not always on, which I was honestly hoping for coming from a previous phone that had always on for a fingerprint sensor. This is probably the best LCD screen currently available on a cellphone. The 4K HDR screen is absolutely gorgeous when playing 4K content and viewing photos. You cannot tell when it switches from 1080P to 4K, which is really nice. However, being the international edition, I don't believe the U.S. Amazon prime video app plays 4K HDR content natively. I have yet to confirm this. The speakers are not the loudest, and there is a chance if your phone is facing screen against your leg, table, or in your pocket you will miss a phone call or a text message. I wish they were louder but there's only so much you can do through software. The audio output through the headphone jack is loud enough, but I do not think it will power highend headphones well if at all. It does play .flac files though very well. The camera, since it is a wide angle lens, does have a barrel affect, which is not incredibly noticeable. However it does take very good photos and the front facing camera is a very wide lens. It's great for selfies. The phone is waterproof, I was actually just talking in the shower with it to my friend and he could hear me loud and clear. Thanks Brandon!Battery life is on point, easily can get 5 - 6 hours of screen on time. The standby time is also phenomenal, Sony does a great job with optimizations. It's an incredibly fast and efficient phone, though it does still drop frames here and there. The 4K screen does have some ghosting due to the high resolution and most likely lower refresh rate.Honestly, loosing the warranty through the international edition is far worth the cost savings and a functioning fingerprint sensor.Currently on the July security update.

Awesome phone. Can't be happier.
So far worked very well. Just a quick note that you may need to contact carrier for LTE to work. I have to contact at&t to register my device and IMEI for my LTE to function.Ran a benchmark with antutu. Scored 175000+. Cheated a little by running benchmark with back surface dipped in cold water for extra cooling LOLSony style liquid cooling! One thing to notice is that all the benchmark or spec checking apps will show screen has 1920*1080. Which is not correct as the screen itself is 4k but in normal use like in UI and browsing web page, it only render 1080p graphic but copies pixel 3 times (sony called "doubler" blah blah type of upscale) to fill 4k screen. When viewing 4k hdr content , it is 4k with amazing graphic quality.Battery life may suck depending how much time you keep the screen lit, it is the most power hungry component. For female, definitely get chrome color, back is same as a mirror and even helps to shoot selfie with better back cam thanks to the physical cam button.

Doesn't work for very long. Otherwise decent phone.
I liked the fact it was fast and had a nice display.I disliked the stereo sound quality, camera, the screen is in 1080p unless it's playing 4k videos, and if you force it into 4k most apps run into gui bugs rendering them unusable.6 months of owning it, it had a protective screen and case the whole time. Now it is breaking down for no reason. First the volume up button failed. Then the gyroscope. Now the power button and finger print reader is failing. I am gonna roll back to my ZTE axon 7 phone whose battery life is bad, but other than that works. Pretty disappointing that a premium product has hardware or software failing so quickly. Maybe because of the new Android pie update the native software is running into unexpected bugs. Either way it is failing and becoming unusable and thus deserving a 3 star review.
