I purchased this after taking a mixology class where I learned how to make a Demerara simple syrup. I had never really worked with Demerara sugar before, but after seeing the difference it can make in a cocktail, I wanted to try it for myself. I’m glad I did. The flavor is richer and more complex than regular white sugar, and it made a fantastic simple syrup. It added a little extra depth to my drinks without being overpowering. Even before finishing my first batch of syrup, I could tell why bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts keep this on hand. The sugar arrived in good condition and was exactly what I needed for the project. I’m delighted with the results and already looking forward to experimenting with it in other recipes beyond cocktails. Rich, nutty, with a hint of molasses, it tastes like no other sugar. Been ordering this for years and never had a problem with the sturdy packaging. Fantastic for topping cookies especially shortbread. Adds a wonderful crunch and flavor, here’s a recipe to get you started with this wonderfully flavorful sugar! Demerara Shortbread Ingredients: 1 Cup/2 sticks of unsalted butter. If you are using salted butter reduce salt to ½ tsp 1 tsp salt ¾ cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 ⅓ cups unbleached all purpose flour 1 large egg white lightly beaten with 1 Tbs. water ¼ cups Demerara sugar In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, salt sugar, and vanilla, then beat in the flour. Shape the dough into a log that is 1 ½ inches in diameter. Brush the log all over with the beaten egg white and roll it in the Demerara sugar. Wrap the log and chill until firm, at least 1 hour and up to 2 weeks. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line with parchment 2 baking sheets. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and slice it into ¼ inch thick rounds. Bake the cookies for 20 minutes or until they are a light golden brown around the edges. Remove them from the oven and transfer to a rack to cool For a more substantial cookie, slice the dough ½ inch thick and bake the cookies for 30 minutes.

We prefer this sugar rather than the brand sold in grocery stories because of the texture and taste.

I love this sugar, it tastes great and is less processed that white granulated sugar. The packages arrived with no problems and are super fresh. We love the larger grains, they look so pretty sprinkled over desserts.

Good for coffee or, I really like a little on my shredded wheat cereal. It adds a surprise of crunch and sweetness. Not a real strong molasses flavor, just very nice.

Amazing quality for the price. I make demara syrup off this, and it's great.
