High time for the ground swell of peace to rise Up
Since scientific validation is largely based on mathematical and statistical models and methods, much of its relevance remains obscured to the general population. With the advent of the History Channel and the Ken Burn's documentaries the facts and figures of our collective past have been brought to light. So too, Dr. Wallace has succeeded in putting a 'human face' on leading consciousness research. Even as someone who has been practicing transcendental meditation since college, I found Wallace's accounting of Maharishi's world peace projects fascinating. Given all the non-peace throughout the world today -- even to the extent that it is literally 'in everyone's backyard' - it seems high time to take a deep breath and give this book a sincere read. Perhaps then, the ground swell needed to put a cap on violence and terrorism will arise - as the knowledge, the historic precedent, and the means to make our world a better and a safer place clear exists as so adeptly presented by R. K. Wallace.

A pseudo science that proclaims it literally causes world peace, without telling you how to actually do it.
This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most ridiculous book that I have ever read. It is absolutely shameful what this book propagates. Robert Keith Wallace wrote his doctoral dissertation on Transcendental Meditation (TM) at The University of California at Las Angeles, and then went on to get his post-doctorate from Harvard--the greatest university on our planet. Nevertheless, this man is not a scientist; he doesn't cite a single, solitary source throughout his propaganda filled book. The claims he makes about (TM) are so astonishing, that I decided not to throw the book away (after I somehow managed to finish it) to show others the outlandish claims he makes, without ever substantiating them. A point of contact is what he refers to as the Maharishi Effect. This "theory" purports that if you take the square root of one percent of the population of a country and have that amount of individuals practice TM, that it will literally decrease the incidences of violence in other people. That is so ridiculous it is enough to make my cat laugh. How could you possibly verify or falsify that claim? This is not science, it is nonsense. And even if any of the claims he, and everybody else makes about TM were true, why don't they explain how to perform the practice? Well, it turns out that at a bare minimum you have to spend $1000 to get a secret code word in a mantra from a "certified teacher" to learn TM. If you doubt this claim, read this book, and look up everything you can possibly find on the internet and you will come up with absolutely no information about how to perform TM. This is both a cult and a disgrace to the human race. You might as well buy an astrology book, have your palms read, go to a tarot card reader, or purchase some fortune cookies while you are at it.
