It works well in a Brother and it should work well in most domestic sewing machines so long as the metal plate does not impede the needle connecting with the bobbin thread. Measure your strike plate distance.

Q: Would this needle work for vinyl or leather? Especially in multiple layers?

It might work. Would try to find an 8.0 or larger if possible. you need something pretty sturdy for vinyl and leather.

Q: Will these work on a Bernina 730?

Yes, it will work. Make sure you have the correct needle plate, straight stitch selected, and needle selected. 6 mm may not be available on the 730 machine. Your machine must be a 9 mm machine. There are some new 700 series machines that are only 5 mm. The old 730 was 9mm.
