Great product
Pros:1. Great for personal storage2. Great for non-streaming media storage3. Good support for higher storage capacity hardware4. User friendly UI for the device, same goes for mobile appCons:1. No physical start-up/shutdown button, you'll need to select 'Hibernate' from the UI to stop it.2. To start it, you'll need to switch off the power and switch it back on.3. The system is a bit slow over the network, that is, if you're outside the local area network, might be a bit slow.4. Takes ~3 minutes to boot up after shutdown.

NAS with 2 tb WD drives
Best bang for the buck.. i use this to store all my personal data and family photo archives... speed is pretty good over my network, nothing to complain about... Only thing which i miss sorely is a on/off button. But then again i implemented an IOT switch with sonoff and use that to remotely switch on when i need to get it back online post shutdown.Aug 2020 update :- still works like a charm , I have it on a schedule to power on and off ( part of the software ) , speed on LaN is awesome , use in built plex and stream onto multiple devices at home simultaneously , no performance drops. Love this device for its zero maintenance and ease of use

The best purchase.
I did a year long research and had also tried those cheap docks. Lost my data using cheap products and finally decided to use this. There are loads of online reviews of this product. In short, my reason to choose it.- low price- I had hard drives already- more stable (configure and forget) than synology- super silent compared to competitors- EXT file system for RAID (can be read independently on PC in case I need to)2020 Update: Still working as intended. I’ve literary not touched or had to tinker with anything in past years.2023 Update: Still working like new! It stays on 24x7.

Does what it says adequately, nothing more
Perfect NAS for storing backups. I bought this to explore the idea of local backups but using it made me realize how useful cloud storage providers can be. There are a lot of advantages to this product - reliability is relatively high for storage, network performance is good and the firmware is opensource with a very large community for customized software.Unfortunately, there are a few disadvantages. Namely there is no hardware transcoding because of low RAM and CPU numbers, which means you can't play anything from the NAS itself. You need to download it locally and use it. This means no streaming or Plex media services. This itself relegates this product just as a long-term storage backup. Additionally, I hate to say it but WD's application for viewing photos and videos from the NAS is horrible. Maybe we've been spoiled by the Photos app on iPhones or the Google Photos app on Android phones but the application has severe limitations and performance issues. That said, it's an excellent backup at home to store files that you can access from anywhere. If you install a tunnelling or VPN service like ZeroTier you'll be able to access the NAS from anywhere in the world relatively safely without working out any ports on your router. But the poor hardware performance means that the only operations this NAS can do is moving files to and from local/network devices.
