This lets us raise the vent lid far higher than the OEM covers. ("Ramble") Also, I was able to install it without drilling holes into the side of the vent, too. I don't see why this wouldn't work with "superfan" vents, either. Less opaque than OEM and some other brands. Bug screen works--"Ramble" lacks that--wasp nests, twigs, etc. prove inevitable. Thick, high-quality plastic. I wish to replace the other two old vent covers with these. Will repurchase soon. Very satisfied, high quality. Very economical, too. I used Amazon Warehouse Deals--the product appears completely new--all fasteners are available and nomimal--instructions are a little torn up, but still readable. Shaved a few dollars. Cheers to Amazon Warehouse Deals! I've used them in the past, as well.... Aside. A suggestion about fans and vents: Just purchase a quality, large 12V fan (so many here) and rig it in such a way (below the vent, perhaps) that you may turn it over and even unplug and remove it. You may need some sort of shrouding to better direct the air. People sometimes do have trouble with their big fan vents: They're stuck with a vent and a fixed fan which doesn't work. It's then in the way of free ventilation: So reminiscent it is then, unfortunately, to a newer Rolls Royce that's dead--in the middle of Sonora in August! I'm first going to try an old-school over-clocking Panasonic Vornado PC "horse fan," to replace or supplement the old, problematic and tiny OEM fan. Of course, my ladyfriend believes otherwise and reflexively touts such expensive fan vents! After all, *tube's RV people, with popular presences on the huge and unwieldy portal, always know better! (By the way, the huge numbers of anecdotes here are quite a bit of fine competition for that!--Touche'!) I just don't see it!: With such an animal as an older RV, (or a conversion cargo trailer or older van) alternatives generally do exist. Their users need value--and, utility. In a sense, you can "Create your own reality!" You save big-time $, here--the fan is smaller than the vent--so, you may still open and close the vent. Nonetheless, it's way bigger, more powerful, and way better than the afterthought-wannabe-big-boxbuilder-corporation's-cheapo-PC-fan-that-came-with-the-RV--also, that's still true for those fans incorporated into the newer cheapo fan vents, too. You're not in that same boat now, though! Fans can't last forever--yours is easily replaceable. Neither do you really need that problematic switching and wiring that came with the OEM or other fan vents, either. (That reminds me of the multiple-button switching assembly on the bases of cheapo blenders!--Inevitable, yet mysterious fail!: One that's due to unnecessary complexity, in tandem with far too economical fabrication.)The RV/RV accessory builders too have taken that to heart: They definitely consider that sort of thing an inconvenient afterthought, in any case. They definitely do have Ph. Ds, nonetheless--concerning the cheapening of their electrical fixtures, wiring, and fittings....

My latest purchase of the Maxxair 00-933066 Vent Cover (White) is not my first! I've had another RV for over 6 years, that sits outside 24/7, and I never had a problem out of this vent cover! Thus, I re-purchase a product that I know works and lasts. Without the vent cover, I wondered every time it rained if I had lowered the vents in my RV. My newest RV didn't come with the covers either, and I constantly worried about whether I lowered the RV vent lids before/during a rain. The Maxxair Vent Cover takes the worry out of finding rain water in your RV! It also lowers the risk of wind/limbs damaging the vent lid itself as you travel down the highway while still allowing the flow of air throughout the RV. The only improvement I would recommend is that the "screen" on the vent cover itself is made of plastic and is not small enough to keep small insects (ie: mosquitoes/flies) out of the vent area under the cover. The RV vent itself does have a screen small enough to keep these insects out of the RV, but the Maxxair cover will not stop them from coming into the area under the vent cover. This means you have to remove the RV's vent screen itself or climb on top of the RV to remove the vent cover to clean out any dead insects. This Maxxair cover does require you to remove the screws and nuts to gain access to the RV's vent.....it does not tilt up or open like some covers do. All hardware was included with the Maxxair cover. You will need a drill and bit, screwdriver, measuring tape, and pliers/socket to securely and accurately attach the Maxxair cover to the RV vent cover. The instructions are easy to read and follow. It took less than a half hour to install, from start to finish. Great cover! Forget about the rain and possible water damage to your RV from an accidentally left open RV vent with this product!

Wish I'd gotten these when I first started living in my camper, would of greatly helped with heat simply by being a guard against the sun going right into my living spaces. Can have my roof vents open even when its raining though in any solid medium or heavy downpour I'd advise against opening them all the way or at all for long periods as some rain can and will splash through the guard material allowing airflow but blocking everything else. Not a lot per-say, but when you notice a drop of water on your floor and try to figure out where the heck it came from it'll bother you like it did me. The installation was simple and easy, even for those that don't have much exp. working with some tools shouldn't have too much of an issue so long as they can understand the instructions. Took me less then 20 minutes to get my ladder up and getting on my roof with my tools and the items in question. Good electric drill and the proper drill bit and you'll have the holes drilled in short time, the longest part is simply putting the pieces together afterwords and then tightening them down. After that simply put the hood into place, attach the last parts and then tighten them down as well without torquing them too much. Easy and simple and gives a great touch to living in a camper for however long you'll be using it. I personally after reviewing other models would suggest this one due to its more solid build vs the other competitors, rather pay for a solid thicker one then a skinnier one that'll take less of a blow to break.

I had to write this review after last nights storms. I have a 12' trailer that I use as storage for my inventory. The inventory will not be damaged by rain, but the custom made cardboard boxes it is in sure would be. The trailer was getting very warm inside and needed to be vented, however, I couldn't open the top vent for fear it would rain and I wouldn't be around to close it. I purchased this cover, and have been pretty happy with it. It keeps the temp down in the trailer like I had hoped, but I was still worried that in a real storm, water would get past it and into the trailer. Until last night! It rained like MAD and the wind blew like crazy! The wind and rain generally come from the South/West, so I have positioned the trailer to have the opening of the cover to the North/East. well, the whole hell of the system came FROM the North last night and it pummeled us. It is unbelievable how much rain and wind there was, and it was blowing directly into the vent/cover hole! Aaarrrggghhh!. I waited until it stopped raining and went out to asses the damage. Not one drop. Not one drop of rain made it into the trailer. I couldn't believe it. I still don't know what to make of it, but I am so grateful I bought this cover. It was pretty easy to install, as it took 1/2 hour or so, (in the rain of course...irony?) You need a ladder, drill, marker, screwdriver, tape measure and a wrench or two. It is solidly built, attractive and has a very fine mesh screen just inside the louvered vent to stop bugs (and maybe that helped to stop last nights rain from entering). You will not be disappointed in this cover.

This is a comparison between the Camco cover and the Maxxair unit. I have 4 Camco units currently installed on trailers and RV's, I have not had an issue with any of them thus far. One has been in direct sunlight for 3 years and is still solid. However, the reviews led me to look at the Maxxair unit, so I got both to do a side by side comparison. Functionally they serve the same purpose, if you don't have them you need them, great for keeping the rain out. Also a good backup cover, I've found my crank up covers missing on more than one occasion. They both install the same way. The Camco unit has a screen that removes from the outside, the Maxxair unit is attached on the inside, meaning you have to remove the 4 mounting bolts to clean your vent cover. That's really the only reason you need access inside the unit once installed. Getting on the roof to pull out the screens and clean the covers isn't on my yearly maintenance list so it's not an issue for me. Out of the box the Maxxair unit is stiffer either by design or material or thickness. The first two photos are the flange thickness in mm. The Maxxair unit is 3.04, the Camco is 1.44. This means the flange is twice as thick on the Maxxair which is a positive as the flange area seems to be where the Camco units fail. Next I weighed them, the Maxxair is about 2.5 ounces heavier which really doesn't support the idea that the whole casting is thicker. However, someone seems to have given more thought to the design and added extra material at stress points, and the extra contours and ribs in the mold add stiffness. What levels the playing field is how much UV stabilizer is in the plastic which you are left to infer by the warranty period. The other photos are side by side. I'm not going to replace my Camco units preemptively, but if they fail I'll likely use the Maxxair.

Bought this last fall and saved it for a grandson project. Totally happy with the cover. Pleasantly surprised it had all the hardware for installation. 20 minute job for him with absolute no experience. Instructions were clear . Top notch, quality like the old days!!!!!! Made in 🇺🇸

I've purchased and installed several of these vent covers, and appreciated the easy installation, along with the product quality. Now, however, my most recent purchase came with mounting hardware that includes brackets that are too long to fit under the flange of the cover without drilling new slots. The description states that the cover fits most vents, but it doesn't work on my RV without modifying the brackets. Simply drilling a new hole would make fitting the cover difficult, because there wouldn't be any room for adjustment. The slot in the bracket makes fitting easy, but it has to be within the flange, which it now is not. I recommend watching the installation video, and note that the RV-mounted vent is not typical of most vents. That vent has recesses into which the brackets are installed, thus using more of the bracket's length. If your vent doesn't have recesses for the cover brackets, you'll need to modify them and have a more difficult time installing the cover than was previously the case. My original review is below. This cover is easy to install. No need to worry about getting everything squared up, There's the ability to make enough adjustment with the alignment to take care of any angles. The mounting brackets are attached to the vent cover housing, don't have to screw into the roof. I've had several of these over the years, they're long lasting, good quality.

I am very happy with this purchase. My new-to-me trailer did not have them. I know their value from earlier campers and trailers. I am one of those people who will, one day, forget to close the vent before travelling. This will remove worry. Also, it is so nice to be able to have the vent open during a rainstorm. Easy to install. Recommend this item.

We installed this shortly after we purchased our trailer as I've heard a million horror stories, and our trailer is in storage when not in use, so if the original covers cracked, who knows how long it would be before we discovered it. My husband installed these really quickly, they fit perfectly over our vents on our Apex Nano. We leave our vents open year round now (and we even get snow all winter) and have never had a drop of water come in after 4 years. They are amazing, we can leave them open during rain storms, and while driving. One of the best and most important purchases I've made for our trailer.

We ordered 3 vent covers for our RV. 1 vent cover was missing the hardware to attach it to the RV. So I sent a message and they messaged me back that they wanted pictures of the damaged/defective part but there is no damaged or defective part- as we explained it’s just the missing hardware. We are in the process of trying to get the hardware required so we can attach the last vent (hopefully before winter) and so far this seems to be very problematic at the sellers end. Then I was asked to send a picture of the 2 vent covers that had the hardware attached and the one vent cover that did not have the hardware attached. I told them that the other 2 have already been installed to the RV so thats kind of a hard picture to take. At this point we are very happy with the product as it was easy to install and seems to be of good quality. We are very happy with how these covers attach as well. Its a very smart design that attaches right to the vent itself and you don't have to drill holes in your RV roof. It was delivered by the date stated. I am feeling quite annoyed that it seems so difficult to get the hardware parts that should have been sent in the first place. I understand we are all human and stuff happens, so thats not why Im upset. Im upset because I told them about the missing hardware and from my point of view this should just be a quick and easy fix. They know what I ordered. It makes no sense to me that I had to take a bunch of pictures and send them just to get a few missing parts. I will update this review to reflect how this gets resolved and how much time it takes to resolve, because from my point of view the parts should have already been sent right after I sent my message that the parts were missing. The only response I should have gotten from them on Oct. 11 should have been more like “Thank you for letting us know, we are sorry for this inconvenience. We have already shipped the parts out to you as of today and just wanted to let you know. Thanks again for you purchase and take care.” Oct 18/23 - Update I have been informed that they cannot ship out the parts and that they are refunding me the amount for the one vent cover missing the parts. I feel this has been handled in a fair and timely manner. I will now have to reorder one more vent cover and HOPE is comes with the hardware to attach it :). Maybe more updates to come.

Purchase to these for my 40 ft RV. Are fans in our bathroom and living room have sensors so when it started raining the automatic vent would close up however with this item you can keep your vents open even if it's raining. In my opinion every RV should have these pre-installed however they don't but you should definitely get these if you don't have one.
