Zatarain's Black Beans & Rice, 7 oz

So good & so easy. Goes with just about anything or can be easily mixed with meat and/or veggies to be its own meal. It has enough flavor that you don’t need to add anything but not so much that it clashes with other things & is low effort enough for the teenagers to voluntarily make on their own but good enough to be served as part of a steak dinner.

I just tried this maybe a week ago, and I’ve already reordered it twice. I don’t eat meat or seafood, so I can make a meal of this. Preparation is very easy - just add the packet to water and oil or butter, then bring it to a boil and simmer for about 25 minutes. I like to add about a half cup of frozen corn kernels and an equal amount of salsa while it’s cooking, and then serve it topped with sour cream. It has just a kick of spice to amp up the flavor, but not so much heat as to burn your mouth or stomach lining. Highly recommended.

Very convenient way to prepare black beans & rice. Add a good precooked sausage to make a yummy meal.

One box makes enough for my wife and I to have each a large portion for dinner and she still has enough left over for lunch. It stores well and neatly, which is important as we live far from a grocery store. $2 for a main course for 2 is really a great deal. I stir fry some onions and occasionally some veggie sausage (we are vegetarians) and sometimes add a can of tomato and it expands it even more and makes it even more flavorful. I suggest adding either an extra cup of water or a can of tomato to it when cooking as it does end up a bit thick if you don't. The one and only negative I can come up with is that it is a bit salty. The more veggies I add, the less salty it tastes, but if you have to watch your sodium that could be something to consider. I will buy this again and again.

Well, let me start off and say " I never cooked Gumbo in my life ".... My Fiance loves Gumbo. He asked "do you know how to cook Gumbo?" I responded "Yes"... Lol I didn't lie because you can do anything you put your mind to do if you believe. Amen? Soooooo, He wanted Gumbo. I typed in Gumbo mix In good ol faithful Amazon who seems to have the answers to all your purchases. This Gumbo mix came up... It's so simple to make with simple instructions. That's all you have to do is follow the instructions, so I did. Because I know what all can go in Gumbo I purchased extras. I added shrimp, scallops, chicken, King Crab, Snow Crab, Sliced up some link sausages threw it all in and Walla! It was some of the best Gumbo! Just using this Gumbo mix. It has rice already in it to cook into the Gumbo. Now I added some Minute rice to enhance the rice due to if you overcook the Gumbo the rice in the mix can get a little over cooked and be sougy. So in my opinion this is excellent for beginners and especially for the Gumbo Pros!
