Excellent Grain Replacement
For those of you who really enjoy "hot cereal" and want to be gluten free and or grain free, this is the cereal for you. Quinoa is not a true grain, which is great for those of us trying to avoid grain altogether. It is very delicious. It is so easy to cook. You can add raisins, nuts and berries to make it extra delicious. A little cinnamon gives it a yummy taste as well. Banana's will sweeten it as well if you are looking to reduce sugar. If you have questions about Quinoa, I suggest you look it up online for vitamin and source information. You can also use to bake cookies or muffins...there are some recipes on the box. This is the best available price for this item. I have shopped around. I bought two cases of it. Excellent Cereal!

Spicy, filling, hot and absolutely nutritious breakfast
In East Africa, where I'm from, we have a porridge called Uji, which is essentially made from ground maize and millet. Very nutritious, even one of the first foods you give your baby when you're weaning him/her from milk. At our house, we're big fans of oatmeal, which we've cooked up with bananas (no honey, no sugar) and serve with blueberries, or with some adad lentils with a base sautee of onions, garlic, cloves, cinamon, and chilies. It's absolutely fab. My 20-month-old loves it that way. Until I bought quinoa flakes and made it for him that way--he loved it even more. Today, I made him some garlic peas and carrot hot cereal. Basically, boil the water, add in some peas and carrots (I'm sure corn and potatoes would be divine, too!), salt and pepper (or chili powder), and a chunk of minced garlic. Bring to a boil and then stir in the quinoa. I'm having mine with a dollop of homemade yogurt. Delicious!!!!!!

Great and Versatile Product
When I first tasted quinoa flakes made as a hot cereal, I found them really bland. As I continued making the cereal, I found that this wasn't a bad thing but a completely blank canvas for me to create whatever flavor I wanted. It mixes well with honey as well as a combination of ginger and cinnamon. The quinoa flakes have a great texture, and the amount of water I use determines the thickness of the cereal. I haven't made muffins with the quinoa flakes yet, but there's a recipe provided on the box. For anyone eating a gluten-free or reduced gluten diet, I would definitely recommend this product. It's a great value for such a healthy, versatile food.

Best By date is too soon
The cereal itself is great -- tasty and nutritious. I ordered a set of 6 boxes and was disappointed by the Best By date. I received my order on August 18. The Best By date is November 9, too soon to use 6 boxes while the cereal is optimal for use. I do realize that products can be used after the Best By date on the packaging. I had asked a question about this on Amazon before ordering but did not get any responses.

YUK
Pasty earthy yukiness. I prefer grinding actual quinoa in my coffee grinder and using that instead. Tastes better and worth the trouble. Giving away the 6 boxes of flakes to the food bank, hopefully someone can use it

Better than oatmeal!
I love these quinoa flakes...they are relatively easy to make (I just cook them in the microwave. They have a very unique, kind of nutty taste (I guess like quinoa) and can be made thick or thin. It has the texture of grits or cream of wheat and, like quinoa, is a great source of protein...and it's gluten free. I have served this for friends at a brunch and they loved it. I sometimes put warmed fruit (microwaved frozen berries) in it...and it is a great treat. Highly recommended and a great deal. Also, the boxes came with a very long shelf life, but I am sure that they will be gobbled up fairly soon.

Great Product! Better than expected.
I purchased this item while I was doing a diet. This item is quinoa and it tastes like quinoa. That being said, I like this product more than standard quinoa. I have made this as a hot cereal similar to oatmeal, ground it to use it as a bread crumb substitute in a pinch, and added it to gluten free cookie recipes. I prefer hot oatmeal BUT I do appreciate the added protein in this item. I also like that it is Organic and Gluten Free.I am no longer following the diet but I still buy this item. Currently, I add this to my morning smoothie/protein shake. I blend it first to make it finer than add it to my smoothie. I find just adding 1/5 cup helps keep me fuller longer.

Easy to make this great food
Great flakes. Truly a superfood. Easy to make. Get a large pot. Bring 7 cups of water to a boil. As you are stirring the boiling water, slowly pour in 2 cups of flakes. Don’t stop stirring the boiling water until all the flakes are added (otherwise the flakes will get clumps). Continue to stir slowly. Water might briefly stop boiling, but just wait for a few seconds and it will quickly start boiling again. When that happens, stir for 90 seconds. At the end of the 90 seconds, remove from the heat and let cool for about 5 minutes. Then you can add a little sweetener, cinnamon etc
