Oh Rose Marie

This is one of the best CDs in my collection of 3000+.Not a "filler" song on it.It is a mix of mono and stereo cuts..Tracks 3,4, 5, 6,7 and the last 4 are all stereo.The most notable song would be "Spring Fever" released here in Australia in 1966 and is a "One Hit Wonder".Also a local release here is "A Million Drums",but another "One Hit Wonder" by an Englishman Tony Sheveton. Probably a better version.I put track 20",Let me be forever"on repeat.I think the most outstanding song on this compilation.All these songs tell a story The mastering and sound is first class,but track 20 has a little surface noise,easily compensated for by this outstanding song.His vocals are spot on for one so young.There are no liner notes nor any information regarding these songs so I have to assume Tony was a teenager when most of these were recorded.The 2 above mentioned songs are 50+ years old and sound as fresh as yesterday.This is one CD not to be missed.Get it while you can It is already listed in the hundreds and no doubt will fetch much more later on.Highly recommended

The songs on this album are vintage DooWop! There is one particular song that makes the CD well worth the price: Caravan of Lonely Men. I had heard this song on Oldies radio a few times and spent the last six years trying to find out how to get a copy of this delicious cut. It wasn't available on i-Tunes or Rhapsody but finally Google found a back door that enabled me to find the title (which I didn't know until a month ago) and the group that performed the song. It is incredible!!! You like oldies, you'll love this!!! The Fascinators sound is awesome.

rare and hard-to-find oldies

This was a defective CD. I sent it back as soon as I received the mailing sheet. I got this for my sister. Where is her refund? I had to click on a star. It's actually a ZERO!

Am impressed with the CD, can not say that I like all of the songs, but with 30 songs on the CD to choose from, no problem. Quality of sound on CD is good.

listening to this music makes me really happy,but I feel sorry for young people today,who have no knowledge of what music really is.rap or hip hop is terriable noise not really music.

This CD is horrible, not to mention incredibly over priced, extremely dissatisfied with this purchase.

けっこうなプレミア価格で販売されていますが、ジャケットは質の悪いカラー・コピー、盤はCD-R。完全なるブートレグですが...内容は素晴らしいだけに、逆に始末が悪い。「魅惑的」と名乗るザ・ファッシネーターズは、ニュー・ヨークのブルックリン出身、イタリア系と黒人による混成グループ。リードはイタリア系のAnthony Passalaqua(アンソニー・パッサラクア、Tony Pasasalaqua,Tony Richardsとも名乗っています）なので、ホワイト・グループとしてカテゴライズされています。1958年～1959年にかけ、3枚のシングル盤をキャピトル・レコードから出しただけのグループ。1958　1.「I Wonder Who」＆ 2.「Capell Bells」（Capitol 4053/4054)1959　8.「Who Do You Think You Are」＆ 9.「Come To Paradise」（Capitol 4137)1959　5.「Oh Rosemarie」& 4.「Fried Chicken And Macaroni」どれも素晴らしい曲ですが、現在では「Oh Rosemarie」が代表曲として知られています。流れるようなメロディが、ホワイト・グループ特有の軽めのリズムに乗って歌われる佳曲。ホワイト・グループ・ファンならば、おそらく気に入る曲調と思います。3.のはその別ヴァージョン、15.にはそのデモ・ヴァージョンがそれぞれ収録されています。「I Wonder Who」も同路線、「Capell Bells」や「Who Do You Think You Are」といったバラッドも素晴らしい出来。ザ・ファッシネーターズ解散後、トニー・パッサラクア＆ザ・トワイライツという別グループを結成し、今度はニュー・ヨークのコルピックス・レコードからレコードを発売します。Tony Passalaqua & The Twilights　10.「Paper Boy」＆ 11.「Please Believe In Me」（Colpix 178,　1960）そして16.「Shout My Name」と21.「Summer Is Coming」の2曲は、トニー・リチャーズのソロ名義で同じコルピックス・レコードから発売されたレコードです。（Colpix 199、1961）発売したレコードの数の割に、音源が豊富ですが、本CDには他の歌手のバックを務めた作品や、デモ・ヴァージョン、さらに当時は発売されなかった音源も含まれています。ジャケットはお粗末ですが、音源は貴重でマニア向け。

Fascinators のCDは３千円台と高かったため手を出せずにいたのですが、それが１千円台で出たので早速に買いました。ところが、CDパッケージをカラーコピーしただけの海賊版で、ライナーなどはまったくありませんでした（裏面にはライナーの執筆者名が記してあるのですが）。幸い山下達郎さんがこのグループを紹介したこともあり、多少の情報はNETにあります。音質には特に問題を感じていませんが、もっと性能の良いカラーコピー機を使って欲しいものです。
