It worked

This does cut straight, but anchoring it down to hold it steady is tricky. It would be helpful if it had a feature to accommodate that. Also, I can’t get it to lock in for a straight cut, but if I keep the saw to the right side it still cuts straight

I saw this and watched the video and thought it would be a real asset instead it is a literal piece of junk. The thing does not stay locked in place so when you begin to cut it moves therefore screwing up the angle. I used it to do the baseboard in our bathroom and could not get the right angle cut on almost all the corners. You cannot cut a thinner tall baseboard because it does not sit evenly in the slot and it is virtually impossible to hold the board still while cutting it. The video shows for the most part a wide and low peace of wood and for that perhaps it works but for a tall thin baseboard it just plain does not work right at all. Very disappointed, very!

"Cheap" is the operative wod, here (but that's why we bought this thing, isn't it?). I've attached two photos showing you the thing they don't show you in the product info. First of all, as another reviewer pointed out, there is no provision for fastening this thing to a workbench. It would work counter to its stated purpose to permanently fasten it down; you're supposed to use it like a protractor or angle gauge to get the desired angle, then use it as a miter box to give you an angled cut. But, OF COURSE, you can't actually cut anything in it without somehow rendering it immobile. Use a clamp? Sure. Except there are no flat surfaces to clamp to other than the narrow channel that holds your material. A flange at either end would've served this purpose nicely. Second: the other attached photo shows the underside of the jig. (The vendor was very careful not to show you this.) There are two metal tabs with interlocking gear sprockets. Why the maker thought it necessary to make the two halves move symmetrically, I don't know. Does an angle gauge have this feature? No. Because it doesn't need it. And neither does this miter box. Which would not be a problem except there is too much play between the two sprockets. There is no way to ensure that the angle you've measured will be accurately locked in by the time you're ready to do the cutting. If you're making these kinds of cuts in any material, then you're ingenious enough to make a jig that actually works. If you are (for some unfathomable reason) making angled cuts in anyhting smaller than a 2x4, but you don't need accuracy or convenience, then, sure; throw money at it.

Even for 20 bucks it's pretty awful. Doesn't lock at all and not worth the risk of messing up your trim.

Disappointed with the accuracy when setting the angles on this device. The two 'wings' rotate together because of interlocking gears, one to each 'wing'. However, when the system has been tightened down, supposedly locking the angle, there is still enough spacing between the gear teeth to allow up to a degree or two of deflection for the mitre cut. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot when finishing joints in fine wood-working.
