The best I can tell is there’s some kind of cable holding the two pieces together where it rotates, but the design flaw is if you rotate it one direction there’s nothing to stop you from over rotating and the cable will snap… it doesn’t take much either, I wasn’t keeping track of direction but I couldn’t have rotated it more than one full turn (360°) just trying to get it to fit my very awkward, thick backed Town & Country rear view mirror. I did eventually get it to fit and I was being gentle since it doesn’t feel like a very sturdy mount, but even so once I got it on and rotated it to where I wanted the piece just snapped off. Anyway, I’m not bothering with the other one and just sending it back because I know it’s just a matter of time before the second one does the same thing.Note to the manufacturer, if you’re going to use something that has internal cables, you need to either put a stop on to keep from over rotating or put swivels on the cable ends so it doesn’t twist internally.

This is a neat cellphone holder, the spring holder is awesome. However the connection to the rear view mirror broke on first attempt, as you try to tighten it, it never seems to get firm enough, if you go to far then the top with a metal rod will simply just pop off and then it will not tighten at all. I bought 2, the second I just did not try to tighten as much as the first. But when you drive and make turns the holder and your phone sway with the turn, which I do not like. Price point makes it nice, but functionality on tightening it to your rear view mirror not very good. I would not recommend buying this one.

I really wanted something for our stroller to hold the phone while we were out and about. I loved that it was able to move back and forth like it did. I didn’t get to use it for more than two weeks before it broke. The screw the holds it together is not long enough and broke. I tried to fix it with a longer screw but it didn’t work. So sad.

I adore the clamp to the rear view mirror. I wish the clamp was wider and possibly bigger. My rear view mirror has a much bigger "stem" because of electronics and switches. I expect the clamp to handle temperature extremes much better than a dash suction cup.The overall positioning is flexible. I got the desired placement of my iPhone. It does move more than I like. I also tend to jar it when adding or removing my iPhone.The iPhone holder could benefit from a better design instead of a spring loaded clamp. Something that avoids stressing the rest as one inserts or removes the phone.The price is great. Seeing 3 or 4 payments of $30 for something that should be much less is a complete win.

this holder holds phone firmly but the clamp does not grip as well as i wish it would

Won't clip on to my rear view mirror the shaft on my mirror is very short and doesn't allow room to attach it. So trying to figure out some other way to attach it to my dash or somewhere useful. Holds phone great just can't use it as it was designed for.

What is using in our car as soon as we installed, took the phone out and it broke

I had no issues installing the mount, and connecting to my rearview mirror, but with my phone in the mount, it wasn't stable enough to prevent shaking so I could read navigation while driving.Bought multiples of this and we don't use them. The price was fine, but would not by this again
