This is so much better than plastic. Obviously, plastic sucks because it's toxic, but beyond that, this floss simply works better. Do you really want slippery floss, or do you want something with a little tooth (pun intended) to grab food and calcium buildup? This is very thin. My teeth are packed tight, but this floss gets in no problem. It sometimes breaks, but not as much as the plastic ribbon. The dispenser is quite nice. I actually hold the case while I floss and then cut when I'm done, it saves about 60% of the amount you would normally use if you cut first.

I really like the tube case, and the floss works really well, doesn't leave bits of wax in your mouth like others and doesn't fray or break. Only complaint is the little clip that cuts the floss is too flat and it's a tiny challenge to get the floss in place to cut. Would buy again though good quality floss
