Good Blues, Versatile for Lead, Cleaner than AC30
So far so good. It has a good sound that is cleaner than the AC30 amplug I own, but beefy enough for blues, and versatile enough for practicing lead.

BLUES
Definitely a KEEPER ! Dialed in an amazing clean, overdriven and crunchy blues tone is achievable be it single coils, P90 or humbuckers. 3 channels and the effects rival my AC30 amp plug. It's size makes it convenient to transport, being a headphone amp adds consideration for anyone else when you jam at a high volume. This unit is a great value and built sturdily, it will last a long time if you're not abusive and are aware of it's location. Get one, you'll be HAPPY.

VOX Amplug 2 Blues (AP2BL),Black
VOX Amplug 2 Blues (AP2BL), Black. ... between this and the standard VOX Amplug, this is the one I prefer - primarily because this unit's more versatile as the amp box can securely lift/swivel/rotate around the male plug. Standard VOX amplug is rigidly stuck at a 90-degree angle. Glad I bought I bought both, but the Blues Amplug is the better of the two.

My gosh this Vox Amplug 2 Blues is just what the Blues ordered!
So I just recently bought a Fender Stratocaster HSS Player series and wanted an amp that I could use to plug and play with my headphones. I wasn't sure where to start so I got the VOX Amplug 2 Blues (AP2BL) to start with. I love SRV, John Mayer, BB King, and a hundred other blues guitarists and wanted a nice full blues sound coming out of the strat. First, the quality of this little inexpensive device is superb for it being a small cube of plastic. Right out of the box I added the batteries and plugged it in to the Strat and then my headphones into the Amplug. There aren't instructions on the box so I just did trial and error at first. The button on top near the volume, tone and gain wheels offers the different settings to include tremolo, reverb and chorus (I think). I didn't care for the tremolo sound too much and was a initially disappointed that even with my strat set to the bridge humbucker coil (not the single coil in the middle or neck), it just wasn't impressive. However, I soon discovered that the button that powers the device on also has three settings. The green light keeps the tones nice and clean, which what I was using. Then I hit the button again and the light turned orange. The orange setting, along with max tone and max gain, immediately brought a little David Gilmour sound from The Wall (I was playing "Hey You" using this). I finally pushed the button once more to the red light and it gave me a nice fat crunch that was bordering a tube screamer and had enough kick to feel power chords sound like hard rock. I'm definitely buying a couple of the others because I played for four hours straight in the middle of the night and I didn't wake anyone in the family! The sound it produces through the headphones is simply a dream. I rarely do product reviews but I'm definitely going to do one for my YouTube channel because it's that good. (I guess it helps to have a nice guitar like a Strat too).

Vox amPlug Blues
Been playing this thing since it arrived two hours ago and I am extremely happy with this. I wasn't sure which one to pick, I'm sure they're all fine, but I got the blues version and I'm glad I did. Been playing guitar for 20 years but haven't played as much in recent years so to living in a small apartment. I could plug headphones into my amp, but this is better for just playing around with headphones.I tried my Gibson Les Paul (Faded Special, the 2004-05 good version of that model) first, and was impressed. But then i tried my Strat, and I'm even more impressed. You can go from basically crystal clear clean to heavy OD and everything in between. So glad I went with this over the clean only version. It has 3 amp models, all are fine to tweak your sound further. Basic FX are ok - chorus/ delay/ reverb or off (im not a huge fan of built in effects in general, personally won't use them, but they work).2 things that could be improved but I wouldn't take my rating down over it - inputs for both my guitars are on the bottom edge and you cant see the controls easily. Better if the pivot would turn the other way too but not a big deal. The second thing is the knobs are kind of sensitive, really easy to turn too much and completely alter the sound, but I'll get used to it.If you want to play guitar with headphones on, buy this, you won't be disappointed.

This Headphone Amp has Amazing Sound.
I purchased a VOX AC30 headphone amp a few years back and while it worked fine, It just didn't have the sound I wanted. When the "Blues" version of the amp was released I watched the reviews for a long while before deciding to take a chance. I figured that if it didn't sound any better than my AC 30 I could return it.Well, I was really surprised at how much better this amp sounded than my old AC30. With a decent (not expensive) set of over the ear headphones the sound into my ears is close to what I hear with a good full sized amp. I can plug my laptop or phone into the AUX input and play along with some backing tracks. A perfect setup for practice in a hotel room.Like other VOX headphone amps, this one has three sound versions plus three Effects. Thus you can mix up 12 different outputs. There are Tone, Gain and Volume pots for fine tuning. Turning up the gain has the expected effect of producing a gritty over-drive sound. The tone knob does a pretty good job of toning down treble. The VOX plugs directly into the audio jack of your guitar, but I find this pretty inconvenient since it never seems to orient so that adjustments are easy to make while playing. As an alternative, I use a two foot long 1/4" audio extension cord. That is long enough to allow me to wrap the VOX over my lap for easy access. It also reduces the chance of breaking the unit's audio plug when sitting the guitar down.I've tried many different approaches to getting a truly portable guitar amp setup. Most end up clumsy or sound awful. The VOX Blues headphone amp is a home run by comparison to anything I've tried to date.I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a way to play and practice when guitar sound is not necessarily welcomed.
