I read the reviews for the night splint but nn one said much about foot size or leg length. As I am a size 3.5 (36) UK size feet and only 5 feet tall (short legs) I was rather undecided whether the small would fit as it is advertised smaller than a size 8 which is a lot bigger than I am. As you will see from the photo it fits perfectly and keeps my ruptured Achilles in place while I sleep. This is a great step forward (sorry about the pun) as although I had found a way of sleeping with my boot on, this works much better. It’s lighter for a start and keeps my foot supported at the right angle. The splint sits in place with the straps done up and they don’t need to be too tight to keep it secure. I wear an ankle support under it as my foot gets cold and this also seems to help keep it secure. I’m not sure about the size 8 cut off for sizing though, as I think someone with a longer leg, and bigger foot than me might need the large to get the ankle strap in the right place. You must not use the splint to weight-bear so I only use it for sleeping or resting. As a doctor and psychologist I’ve found my ruptured Achilles incredibly frustrating so having the splint offers a bit of comfort in miserable circumstances. The price reflects the special nature of the product, though I recognise that not everyone is as fortunate as I am and maybe totally reliant on NHS-provided aids. I found the splint through the Achilles rupture e book by Matthew Solan and if you are looking for good info on this injury the e book is definitely worth a read. If you are reading this because like me you have ruptured your Achilles I empathise and wish you well with your recovery. Please do follow your doctor’s instructions to get it soonest mended.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a ruptured achilles. I was told i could go to bed without my surgical boot on but I found it difficult to sleep as was worrying about position of ankle. This splint made all the difference and I could sleep knowing I couldn't do any more damage

I have given this 3 stars as I have found the ankle straps slip off my ankle at night. The only way to keep it on is to put it on very tightly & that is too uncomfortable to sleep. I have resorted to bandaging the splint in place but I am concerned because the nights where the ankle straps have slipped have allowed my foot to move so I’m not sure whether I have caused damage. I return to the hospital next week so I should have the answer & will update this review once I know the outcome.

Excellent idea but poorly executed. The splint isn't wide enough and doesn't have enough cushioning. Ends up being too painful to wear. The current design is pretty much a glorified shin pad and £63.99 is no value at all. It could be so much better if redesigned and comfort improved.

Bought this when I ruptured my Achilles Tendon and couldn't sleep in the support boot provided by the hospital. I swapped this with the boot at night. Takes a bit of fiddling to get the fit right, but worth it. Really good buy. Thoroughly recommended!

This night splint is well made and very light. It's pretty easy to put on, although even easier if someone does it for you Once on, it was quite comfortable because it is so thin and light but, it holds the foot pointing in the downward position and I was instructed to keep my foot straight, pushing the heel down to stretch the ligaments surrounding the achilles tendon. Pity, I was hoping this would help, but I'll go back to placing a pillow in the bottom of the bed to brace the foot against. I have given it four stars for quality and lightness, plus comfort.

Excellent, much more comfortable than wearing the NHS Boot at night, bit expensive for what it is.

Bring summer I was finding that big boot for protecting my leg too hot. I got approval from a Dr that using this when sleep from week 4 would be fine. It has made such a difference!

Dank Achillessehnenriss muss ich mindestens 6 Wochen, Tag und eigentlich auch Nacht, eine Orthese/Walker/Vacoped tragen . Als Seitenschläfer konnte ich mit dem Klotz so gut wie gar nicht schlafen . Diese Schiene ist nachts Gold wert !

How to start my review. I am on day 25 Achilles rupture and the first two weeks in the surgical splint i slept fine then they removed stitches and put me in a ten pound prison called a Breg air boot. Don’t get me wrong the boot is fantastic for weight baring walks but hell for sleeping. I describe it like putting my foot to knee in a camp fire the leg is hot sweaty pins and needles start firing everywhere foot out of boot no issues except you could re tear the tendon with a sneeze then this product it’s light still a bit hot on the top of the foot and lower shin but it holds in place nicely and protects the tendon from the sneeze or twitch or waking up from a dream where you’re falling. Is it expensive as some say based on materials yes but i think its priced right. Its very specific for Achilles tendon rupture and all the other splints are for plantar fasciitis not for keeping the Achilles tendon safe while healing resting and sleeping.

While I did not have a complete rupture of my achilles, I did have surgery to repair a small tear and tendonosis and found this brace to be extremely helpful during my recovery. This was my second time having the surgery and I really wish I’d known about this brace the first time around as it’s been a fantastic alternative to wearing the boot for sleeping. I showed it to my surgeon before purchasing just to make sure and he approved right away. Makes me wonder why they don’t proactively recommend it honestly as wearing a walking boot while trying to sleep isn’t great. This brace fit well and is infinitely more comfortable, which allowed me to sleep well and to keep my bedsheets clean. The only downside for me is the heel strap placement is right over my incision so I have to cover the incision with extra bandages but it’s not a huge deal. I would highly recommend this!

Endlich wieder nachts schlafen. Die Schiene ist leicht, gut gepolstert und lässt wieder Luft an den Fuß. Sie liegt gut an und hält den Fuß in Position. Warum gibt es die nicht hier in den Sanitätshäusern? Nicht mal ein Hinweis darauf! Bin im Internet darauf gestoßen und hätte sie gerne von Anfang an gehabt. Welch eine Erleichterung.
