A must have piece of kit to make everything work with the viper 5305 remote start alarm system. Real pity that it is impossible to access the information one needs if you are trying to do the install yourself, only approved installers can access the information you will need. Otherwise it is a good product that does what it says. Good deal 🙂

DBALL 3 is one of the latest immobilizers from DEI. If you've ever used DBALL 2 or the DBALL you will see it's basically the same harness just the shape of the box has squared up a bit. Used when adding remote start to a vehicle that has a chipped key. Also provides vehicle data to the aftermarket alarm so you don't have to run as many cables like hood pin - trunk pin - door status - tachometer - parking lights etc... It does so via the D2D cable. Can allow control over OEM alarm as well. All depends on vehicle. To know what works it's best to visit the directechs.com site.

I've been using these for a long time without issue. The lastest one was in my 2010 GMC Sierra using the RXT setup. Literally a 3 wire hookup, 2way remote, and an xl202. Didn't work worth a damn. Skipping CAN1 by hitting the button 5 times wasn't possible, it simply didn't work. The light would change but the module would fail to program due to CAN1 missing (2 red flashes). I hooked up CAN1 to see if it would circumvent the issue so I could progam the module to the car. That worked, but then found that the module started failling communicating with the vehicle after 5 minutes. Almost like it went to sleep. It would only unlock the back doors and not the front, and Remote start wouldn't work at that point. Starting the truck would reset behavior and everything would work again, but within 5 minutes the same thing would happen. I spent hours trouble shooting 3 wires at the OBDII port. I've been doing this since back when it took 20+ wires to hook up a remote start. Gonna get another one locally and see if it fixes the issue, but I have lost some faith in these. Thank God this was my vehicle and not a customer car.

Directed products are awesome if you know what you're doing and a nightmare otherwise. They put a lot of thought into the packaging of this product. There is a slot in the package that makes these superior to the DB2, you can program these while they're still in the box, which makes it great for resale and quick installations.

What the listing here and Directeds website fail to mention is that this module must be programmed for the specific vehicle its going in. This seller not only does not provide that but also does not provide any installation information for the device. Directed dealers should all have access to the Directechs site that provides free downloads of installation guides and software/firmware for their devices. This seller does not provide either. If you buy one, be prepared to have a local radio shop program it and provide installation info for a few bucks.
