I really don't see that as their intended use. May be toxic to your fish.

Are they strong enough to hold easter eggs?

They are strong but dense and I'm not sure that they are suitable for hanging something large like Easter eggs. I also ordered the branches with lights. They are not as dense and are suitable for hanging larger objects.
