Can these mats be used in place of coco liners?

I was reordering these for this spring and saw this question. Sorry I didn't see it sooner and help out. I've had great success using them INSIDE NOT IN PLACE OF my coco liners. For 3 years now, I buy this 6 pack and line my 2, (place 3 mats in each) 33" coco basket deck boxes hanging on my back deck railing. They have made all the difference in how those flowers, exposed to 100% sunlight, survive.

How often do these have to be changed?

I would probably change 1x a year.

Will I be able to remove these mats at the end of the season or will they damage my coco fiber liners?

Yes, you can remove them without damaging your liners. I can usually use the fiber liners two years by using these mats.

will a potted plant absorb water if the mat is placed in the saucer?

If your plant is in a terra cotta planter, sitting on a saucer, you can water it by filling the saucer with water, with or without this mat. I've been doing that all summer with several geraniums on my front porch and they look great.
