Fun, simple, tough camera for all ages with great image quality
I bought this camera for my six-year-old granddaughter. Although it is far from being a toy, the onscreen graphics and fun features will appeal to younger folks. It is literally point and shoot: turn it on, take the photo. There are no manual controls in the DSLR sense, but it does have minimal exposure controls and even a built-in two-stop neutral density filter, although the manual does not explain how this works. The flash can be set to off, on, and automatic. You can add stars and crowns and bubble effects and lots more to photos, and it has lots of image effects. The size and shape of this camera are well suited to small hands, not so much to my hands, and my middle-aged-man hands are not that big. But I could get used to handling this camera. If you're used to holding a heftier camera body, you'll have to work to hold this one steady, it's so lightweight. One of this camera's very few negatives is that with the included charger cable, you must keep the battery in the camera and plug in the entire camera to charge it. You can't charge a battery and shoot using a second battery. An optional Nikon wall charger is available to charge the proprietary battery outside the camera. I spent around two hundred bucks for the camera, a spare battery, a standalone charger, a memory card (it does not come with one and has only a small amount of internal memory), and a case. The menus are basic and easy to use while providing enough features to interest a young person or very casual photographer, the shockproofing will protect against young hands' clumsiness, and the weather-resistant qualities are a plus for outdoor use. I found that setting up the Nikon SnapBridge app for cellphone connectivity (storage) and the Nikon Image Space app (for online storage) to be rather tedious, but once I did, with the camera paired to the phone, it quickly uploaded images first to the camera and then to the web. So this is a handy camera for folks without a computer to use for storage or uploading. But here is what is really great about this camera: it has superb image quality for its class. In good light, the pictures are very sharp and clean, with true colors, little noise, and great detail. The flash illuminates pretty evenly and provides enough light for sharp indoor photos. The flash was pleasing even when aimed straight at people's faces at fairly close range, and flesh tones were true. Thirteen megapixels will theoretically let you print an 11x14 photo, but I've seen compact cameras that cost much more than this whose image quality would not allow that. Although most users of this camera will not be printing that large, if at all, I think that under decent conditions, this camera would allow for an 11x14 print. What a great camera for the price. If my granddaughter, who took to it instantly, takes care of this camera, it will "grow" with her quite well. At a price near the bottom of the entry-level heap for digital cameras of any kind, this camera is a super value, all the more so because of the well-established Nikon Coolpix brand.

Buy It!
I should not say this because it just means fewer for me to buy, but my advice is, if you can afford it, and if you are being victimized by criminals using EMFs that destroy electronic equipment and deplete batteries: BUY EVERY ONE OF THESE YOU CAN FIND This is a very fine camera and very rugged, it can withstand dropping and falling and being handled carelessly and be okay. Of course it is an old obsolete photography format but we are now in the age where criminals can find your camera and anything electronic by its signature, and knock it off-line or deplete your batteries easily. And the victims usually don’t have access to advanced paramilitary technology and cameras that can withstand this, so it’s hopeless. This camera will record them stalking on video and it has a 28 minute video length so if you can run to the store and back in 28 minutes you can leave it on in your house looking at the door! Just be sure it’s always on airplane mode. In addition to these assets this camera also has a fine autofocus so you can photograph your rock or jewelry collection using a camera stand and achieve high quality professional images that would grace any publication. This is a feature that is no longer easy to find. If you are limited to finding electronic equipment that works under siege by EMFs, I recommend this smart, blue Nikon camera. Just buy a lot of batteries and shield it in a Faraday box.

Works great for a small, cheap camera. It is waterproof as well. Takes decent underwater photos.
I took this camera snorkeling and it performed very well. The only issue I had was accidentally pushing the video recording button while swimming. I would recommend buying spare batteries, because the one doesn't last all day.

No Wi-Fi
Ordered this camera because of its waterproof abilities and light weight. Used it for pictures during an equestrian vacation and touring, including riding in the water and during misty days. The waterproofing worked perfectly, had no problems with wet or condensation. Easy to work even with gloves on. Because of nature of equestrian touring did not use much in way of special effects. Did shoot some short videos which were easy to shoot and came out well. Audio on videos were good. Tolerated lots of bouncing and banging during 25 hours of riding. Easy to recharge battery, battery lasted good time, only needed a second battery one day. There were limitations with this camera. Pictures were very good but not super sharp. The biggest complaint I have about the camera is with the Scan Snap software. It did not work at all. I called Nikon help desk 3 times, no one could help me despite spending hours on the phone. Finally learned that the software was not compatible with the current IPhone or iPad software version, and they could not tell me when the software would be updated. Therefore I was unable to upload any pictures via Wi-Fi. I would not have purchased this camera if I had known that.

Quality and Compact
The Nikon COOLPIX W100 was my daughter's birthday present and her first real digital camera, not like her kid ones she's had in the past. Holds a good charge on the rechargeable battery that comes with it along with a wall charger and cable. It takes beautiful, crisp photos and you can transfer them to you iPad or other digital device with the free app and Bluetooth. It doesn't come with with an SD card but I purchased a 32g card for it and works great.

This camera is easy enough to operate but it's a pain in the ... to get the cable plugged in to charge the battery and I am so far unable to download images to my computer. Have had one call with tech support, they were great, sent me a link to an app that is needed to transfer pics to a computer, which isn't mentioned in the user guide or the spec sheet in the store and I followed their guidance but still can't get the darn thing to download. Seriously frustrated! I am leaving town in the morning and need this contraption for my trip...will circle back to tech support when I get home. If getting the pictures downloaded doesn't happen or is too much of a pain I will return the camera, the memory card and the dual battery charger and batteries I purchased...and I'll be irked because the pictures from this trip are mega important to me.

The Nikon SnapBridge software to transfer the photos is terrible. Defeats the entire point of having the camera
The camera itself is decent and waterproof. The Nikon SnapBridge software to transfer the photos is terrible. Defeats the entire point of having the camera. Transferring pictures is sporadic at best, cumbersome and time-consuming if and when it ever decides to work. If you only ever want to view photos on the camera viewfinder, it's ok. If you want to transfer pictures, don't bother.

Great little waterproof camera and so easy to use!!
I love this camera!! It is definitely waterproof! I take it out on the Chesapeake Bay with me on my raft and it has fallen in the water a couple of times and still takes great pictures! I bought one of those floating straps for it and it keeps it floating, perfectly!! I love the fact that this camera links up to my iphone. (It will also work with an Android) I downloaded the Snapbridge App and they sync up all the time. I will come in off the beach and lay it somewhere and the next thing I know my phone will alert me that it has just downloaded 25 or more pics, all on its own! I don't have to do a thing and they are ready for me to post to facebook or whatever I want!! This camera is super easy to use!! I highly recommend it!

A nice, durable, fun camera.
A nice little camera that is easy to use and has many fun features. The app that connects the camera to your smartphone is great. It came on time and survived a 7 day camping trip with teenagers using it!! I would recommend this camera for its price point, ease of use and durability. The product arrived on time.
