She has had no problem with them in the dishwasher. I’m not sure what you mean by the lip, it’s like a regular plate and the height of the plate fits very easily. I want to add, they are really beautiful and high quality. I got the dark blue. The family loves the size of the bowls. **Q: Capacity in ounces on the bowls?** A: 24 ounces will fit to the very top of the bowl **Q: How deep/tall are cereal bowls? 5.25" is narrower than average 6" bowls, but does the depth make up for that to hold the same amout of soup/cereal?** A: The depth allows for same amount of serving than the wider plates. **Q: Would like to mix and match the black/blue with another one. But it seems the two types of bowls are different in other color? Any suggestions?** A: I love the set I have.
